“A Day in the Life”
I’m greeted with beauty from beyond when this youngster and I are seated in the same first class Amtrak Railroad cabin, across from one another as I cannot help but to continue the eye contact that has been the only constant since we boarded the train some twelve minutes earlier. I say the only constant because his eye color is green or are they blue. “Your Song” by Elton John is running throughout my brain & touches every living cell within me, reminding me of just how alive I really am when a young man enters into my orbit. I hear Elton’s melody,
It's a little bit funny, this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money, but, boy, if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live
The feeling inside of me is a mixture of every emotion at its ready for what I am experiencing is by any other name love. I am maybe only six months older than this lad, but I’ve learned to identify love, real authentic love ❤️
I CAN’T EASILY HIDE IS A TRUISM BECAUSE MY EYES AREN’T THE ONLY THING TO BETRAY ME; MY ERECTION IS VISIBLE BY HIM JUST 👀 LOOKING AND PERHAPS SENSING THE BONDING OF MY EMOTIONAL NEED FOR HIM. I CAN SEE HIM. I FEEL HE CAN SEE ME, THE REAL UNADULTERATED ME. THE GOOD, BAD THE ULGY! TRUE LOVE REQUIRES AUTHENTICITY 🎭 ☯️❤️💛🫶
It’s true that when love enters into your life and does so unexpectedly, you have this great desire to show or prove your love, and in the ways of the world today, one thinks of all he wants to do as to demonstrate by actions that it’s love and lasting love, the type you want to commit to by letting living together in a big house, big because the physical space is needed to say I love you so very, very much. You pray that he loves you back and has plenty of the house as canvas to show you.
If I was a sculptor, heh, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show
I know it's not much, but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song, and this one's for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple, but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen
THANK YOU to the amazing ADAM ABRAHAM and his inspiration by just existing that made this posting a necessary output of my expressions and to do so with the wonderful joy 😀😎🕐💭✅
“Your Song" is a love song about innocence and humility, expressing the heartfelt but simple feelings of someone in love. The lyrics, written by a 17-year-old Bernie Taupin, describe the narrator's inability to hide their feelings and their clumsy attempts to show love through simple, earnest gestures, like giving the song itself as a gift. The song's meaning lies in its sincerity and vulnerability, highlighting how wonderful life is with this person in it.
Innocent and naive love: The song is often described as naive because it comes from a place of inexperience, as songwriter Bernie Taupin was only 17 when he wrote it. The lyrics are not about grand, dramatic declarations but simple, honest feelings, such as "I know it's not much, but it's the best I can do".
Humility and sincerity: The narrator feels they don't have much to offer—no money for a big house, no skill as a sculptor or potion-maker—so their "gift is my song and this one's for you". The song's value comes from the personal sincerity behind it, not the narrator's material wealth or other abilities.
Appreciation for life: The core message is a deep appreciation for the other person's presence, with the narrator singing, "how wonderful life is while you're in the world". Even when they forget small details, like eye color, the main point is clear: the person makes life beautiful.
Vulnerability: The song's lyrics are a bit rough and jumpy, reflecting the difficulty of expressing deep emotions. The repeated "well" and self-corrections like "if I were a sculptor, but then again, no" show the narrator's struggle to get their feelings out, making the final, simple gift of the song even more powerful.
The song was composed and performed by Elton John and the lyrics were written by his writing partner Bernie Taupin. (c) 1969
