One thing I love about Netrunner is that the cards do such a fantastic job of working together to make a story with every deck. For example, my Runner deck here involves Adam, a rogue android who is both restricted and empowered by the directives he was programmed with. With this deck, however, I like to think he's gotten a life. He makes money by doing livestreaming, selling spare processing power and doing security testing. He makes contacts at the Earthrise Hotel and at Career Fairs, where he met a Corporate Defector, a very acerbic Film Critic, and made friends with journalist Beth Kilrain-Chang. He wields an eclectic mix of software and enhances his natural hardware with some black market stuff.
My Corp deck is a little less thematically rich, but I do like the idea that the NEXT Design security division of Haas-Bioroid corporation is being tasked with defending such nefarious corporate agendas as Sleeper assassin bioroids, the H-B Bifrost Array, the mysterious Project Vitruvius, and... sales teams and fancy flying cars?! Everything is funded by product sales and the income from shares H-B owns in the Melange Mining Corp. Cyberspace defenses include the Fairchild series of Bioroid ICE as well as NEXT's proprietary ICE suite and a few toys on lease from Weyland's programmers. These defenses are designed to grow more complex the more times the Runner tries to break in, using their intrusion attempts to effectively build itself.
