Instead of replying to his student’s emails like he should, Adam is neck deep in the newest marine biology expeditions and discoveries. When he catches sight of his daughter, Adam glances up and beckons her over. “Peanut, come look at this. Y’know that divin’ expedition off the coast of Australia I was talkin’ to you about? They turned up thirty new species. Can you believe that? Thirty? One of ‘em may even be the longest animal ever recorded.” He points out the new species of apolemia on the screen to Nora, in awe. “Look at that. Crazy, ain’t it?”

When Adam hears his front door open, he’s cooking dinner in the kitchen. Without much thought, he calls out to the most likely person to come by around this time. “That you, sunshine?” When he leans back to see, he smiles to see Babs. “I’m just fixin’ up dinner. You hungry?”

Adam’s out running a few errands when he spots Kyle and remembers he’s been meaning to talk to him. “Hey Kyle," he calls out to catch his attention, and heads his way. “You got a minute? Ain’t nothin’ important if you don’t, just got a question for ya.”

Adam should probably be used to his sister’s versions of emergency meaning “get this spider or snake away from my house this instant”, but he’s always reacted in the same panicked way when Jennifer or Heather call him over for an emergency. He lets himself right into his sister’s home, and makes quick work of finding her. “Hey— hey, what’s wrong? What’s the emergency? Are the kids okay?”

Adam looks up from his book when his niece comes home, and he gives her a smile. “Hey, noodle. What’s with the face?” Maybe he’s seeing things, but it’s instinct that he asks, just in case. “Somethin’ happen?”

When Adam sees Renee struggling to reach something on the top shelf in the grocery store, he doesn’t give a second thought toward helping out. “Here, lemme get that for ya.” He smiles down at Renee before grabbing what she was reaching for, and handing it over. “Like high school all over again, huh?” He says, just teasing her.

His used to his home being full up with family, but right now it’s only Rian who’s keeping him company while the girls are out working or doing who knows what. "Alright, I gotta head down to the creek. I’ve been keepin’ an eye on the salamander population. Did you wanna come with?” Adam gives Rian and cheeky smile. “Promise I won’t tell no one.”
