On-Screen Chemistry | Adam Randolph
Daniel, the first AD’s voice rang out, “Okay, places! Tecto confronts Aqua after the earthquake. You two have this tense moment—remember, the fate of the world depends on it. Bring the drama.” He turns to look at Eric and he nods. Pulling the microphone as close to his lips, he whispers. “And...action…”
The scene unfolded smoothly, both actors slipping effortlessly into character. Tecto, with his steely resolve, approached Aqua, whose stance was defensive, her eyes glistening with anger and fear.
“What were you thinking?” Adam, as Tecto, shouted, his voice shaking the set. “You can’t control the oceans and the fault lines at the same time! You’ll destroy everything!”
YN’s Aqua glared back, her fingers twitching like she could summon a wave any second. “I don’t need you to tell me how to use my powers!”
The tension crackled in the air as the earthquake effects rumbled beneath their feet. Adam grabbed YN by the arm to pull her out of harm’s way, his next line about to burst from his lips when a sudden shift in the floor knocked them both off balance.
In the heat of the moment, YN turned sharply, and suddenly—there it was. Their lips brushed. It wasn’t planned. It wasn’t part of the script.
Adam froze. YN’s eyes widened in shock. The kiss, unintended and brief, lingered in the space between them, even as they pulled apart.
There was a long silence on set. Adam blinked, stepping back, and then... an awkward laugh escaped him. “Uh... that wasn’t in the script.”
YN laughed too, although hers was more nervous. “Yeah, definitely not part of the scene.”
Daniel, oblivious to what had just transpired, shouted, “Great energy! Let’s reset for another take.”
As they returned to their marks, they avoided each other’s eyes, but the atmosphere had shifted. The laughter died down quickly, leaving behind a strange tension neither of them had expected. They went through the next few takes like professionals, but it was impossible to ignore the weight of what had happened. Each time Adam touched her arm or their characters squared off, there was a heightened awareness between them, a lingering current of electricity that seemed to buzz under their skin.
When Eric finally called for a break, Adam hesitated before walking over to YN, scratching the back of his neck. “So... about earlier—”
“It’s fine,” YN cut in quickly, but her tone wasn’t convincing. “Really.”
He bit his lip, nodding slowly. “Yeah. Yeah, it’s just... I didn’t mean to...”
“I know.” She smiled, but there was something in her eyes that told him they weren’t talking about just a rehearsal mishap anymore.
Adam stepped closer, the distance between them shrinking as the unspoken tension became too thick to brush aside. “But what if—” he started, then stopped himself.
YN held her breath, waiting. “What if...?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
He looked down at her, his usual easygoing demeanor suddenly serious. “What if it wasn’t just an accident?”
The question hung in the air like a storm about to break. “Well—“ before YN could respond, Dag cut in.
“I’m sorry to interrupt your break, but Eric wants make up to touch you up a bit. He said you’re looking dry?” She says in a question towards the end. Yn smiles and nods.
“I’ll see you around…Tecto.” Yn smiles at Adam and walks along side Dag, explaining what Eric meant by dry.
The rest of the day on set was filled with action scenes and dialogue, but Adam and YN couldn’t shake the earlier moment. Between takes, they kept catching each other's eyes, quickly looking away, trying to act as if nothing had happened. But the tension lingered.
After the final scene of the day wrapped up, Adam found YN in the hallway near the dressing rooms, still in costume, running a hand through her wet hair. She looked up as he approached, both of them still buzzing from the day’s intense moments on set.
“So... you busy after this?” Adam asked, his tone casual but his posture stiff. “Thought maybe we could grab something to eat. You know, actually talk.”
YN raised an eyebrow, surprised by the offer. “Like... to debrief about the scene?”
“Yeah, maybe.” He scratched the back of his head, giving her a small grin. “But also just to get to know you a little more. We’ve spent months playing superheroes together and I barely know anything about you.”
YN hesitated, then smiled. “I guess we’ve been saving the world together without the small talk.”
He laughed. “Exactly.”
She looked around the nearly empty hallway, then back at him. “Sure. Let’s do it. There’s a place down the street that has amazing sushi. How about we start there?”
Adam nodded, trying to hide the wave of relief that washed over him. “Sushi sounds great.”
As they left the set together, the awkwardness of the earlier kiss still hung between them, but there was also a new sense of possibility. Away from the cameras, stunts, and superhero personas, they had the chance to explore who they really were—with or without the scripted drama.

The Hero Off Set | Adam Randolph/Tecto
The sound of clanking metal filled the air as YN tugged at the harness around her waist. "Oh, come on!" she muttered under her breath, yanking harder, only to feel the straps tighten even more. She glanced around the nearly empty set, hoping no one would notice the absurdity of a stunt coordinator getting stuck in her own equipment.
Today had been a long day of rehearsing a complex scene for ‘Tecto’, the newest superhero blockbuster. YN had been in charge of coordinating an elaborate aerial stunt that involved Adam, the lead actor, flying through a collapsing wormhole. The rehearsal had gone well—until now. Most of the crew had gone on break, and YN had stayed behind to clean up when she found herself hopelessly tangled in one of the harnesses meant for the actors.
With a sigh, she took a deep breath and tried to wriggle free again, her movements only making the mess worse. She was now fully suspended a few feet off the ground, dangling awkwardly from the rigging like an oversized marionette.
"You've got to be kidding me," she groaned, covering her face with one hand.
"Need a hand?" came a voice from behind her, a voice she knew all too well.
YN’s heart sank as she turned her head, spotting Adam standing there, fully suited up as Tecto, the superhero he was playing in the film. His orange and silver suit gleamed under the set lights, and the smug grin on his face only made the situation worse.
Of all the people to walk in right now…
"I’m good, thanks," YN called down, trying her best to sound casual. She shifted slightly, but the harness creaked, and she froze, dangling even more precariously now. "Totally fine."
Adam raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Right. Because hanging from a harness in the middle of the set looks like the definition of 'fine' to me." He strolled closer, hands on his hips, playing the part of the heroic figure he embodied. "Let me help you out."
Before she could protest, Adam grabbed the rigging control on the ground and slowly lowered her down until her feet touched the floor. YN wobbled a bit as she regained her balance, the harness still stubbornly wrapped around her waist. Adam moved closer, inspecting the tangled mess of straps.
"I think this part goes over here…" Adam said, reaching out to untangle the knots. His fingers brushed against her side, and YN felt a jolt of embarrassment mixed with something else she didn’t care to analyze at the moment.
"I really could’ve done this myself, you know," YN muttered, but the heat rising to her cheeks betrayed her casual tone.
Adam chuckled softly. "Sure. Looked like you had it under control."
He worked at the knots for a few moments in silence, his proximity making YN more aware of him than she wanted to admit. He smelled like clean soap and just a hint of something woodsy, a stark contrast to the artificial smoke and sweat of the set. When he finally managed to undo the last knot, she sighed in relief.
"Thanks," she said, her voice softer now. "I usually don’t end up like this."
"Hey, even heroes need a little help sometimes," Adam replied, giving her a teasing smile.
YN rolled her eyes but couldn’t help the small smile tugging at her lips. "You’re not Tecto right now, you know. No need to go all superhero on me."
Adam grinned, taking a step back. "Maybe not, but I like to stay in character. You never know when someone might need rescuing."
There was a beat of silence as they stood there, facing each other in the dimly lit set. For a moment, the chaos of the day melted away, leaving only the two of them. YN looked up at Adam, her eyes meeting his, and there was something playful but serious in his expression.
"Besides," Adam added, his voice dropping just a bit, "you’ve been saving me all week with those stunts. Figured I’d return the favor."
YN laughed softly, shaking her head. "Well, if you keep trying to do everything yourself, I’ll be saving you a lot more."
"Is that a promise?" he asked, his smile widening.
"Don’t push your luck, hero," she said, but there was no edge to her words.
Adam gave a mock salute. "Message received."
As he turned to leave, YN felt a strange mix of relief and regret. “Can you…maybe not tell everyone I got stuck in one of my own harnesses? It’s hard enough Eric doesn’t want to risk anymore halts to his film, and finding out there’s faulty parts will piss him off.”
Adam chuckled at her. “Sure, it’ll be our secret.” He winked at her and continued to walk away. She watched him go, still in his ridiculous superhero suit, and couldn’t help but laugh softly to herself.
