If you double-block, is there a chance to cast spells or activate abilities in the time between the opponent choosing where to assign damage and the damage being dealt?
No, damage is assigned and dealt simultaneously.
However, your opponent will choose which of your creatures will be assigned damage first, and lethal damage has to be assigned to that creature before damage can be assign to the next creature in the damage assignment order, and so on.
I control Diregraf Ghoul and a 2/2 Zombie token (which is pumped to 3/3). My opponent casts Pyroclasm and both of them die. Does the opponent lose 1 life?
No.
The zombie token dies in the second state-based actions check here, whereas Diregraf Ghoul dies in the first check and isn’t around to see the token die and thus can’t trigger.
What happens if you cast Reins of Power on an opponent who has a Merieke Ri Berit tapped and controlling one of your creatures? Since she untaps at the same time the opponent loses control over her, will your creature survive? And if so, Will you keep your creature or have to give it back at the end of the turn?
Your creature returns to your control because of Reins of Power, then your creature will be destroyed when Merieke’s trigger resolves. It doesn’t matter that your opponent lost control of her. If the creature survives being destroyed (because it regenerates, for example), then you’ll keep control of it when Reins of Power’s effect ends.
