Maybe that’s why the sand became his security blanket, the thing that made him feel the safest. The beach was where he met his best friend, Jack. It was where they shared their first kiss, where they fought and where they vowed to spend the rest of their lives together.

The guy pinning him isn’t anyone he recognizes, which isn’t surprising. He has one leg pressed between John’s and it’s mildly uncomfortable but he doesn’t exactly seem to be backing off any time soon. He looks down between them, notices the bulkiness of John’s costume and instantly looks confused.
