Adhyaksha - review
So, a friend invited me to watch Adhyaksha and I thought of breaking the monotony and watch it on a working day (Tuesday) morning at DRC; added advantage was that the ticket prices are INR 80 on tuesday mornings for Kannada films.
Let me not go in detail. The dialogues are the main highlight of the movie. One thing that surprises me is the way Sharan has grown to this level from being neglected as a comedian. The auditorium was filled with mass audience too who went on whistling ever since the innovate title card started. All the technicians are credited along with their photograph in the form of flex banners.
There are a few boring moments which make up a maximum of 5-10 minutes. Otherwise the whole movie keeps us laughing. Songs are made well, choreography is good. Camera work and making is better than some of the big hero movies.
All good things said, the movie lacks the basics. The story is the same age old formula of boy and girl falling in love and facing the ire of the parents. The difference comes towards the climax when the story is given a filmy twist. The story is less convincing, yet it survives only due to the comedy and lively performance of Sharan and his friend "Upadhyaksha Huli". Ravishankar has also given a good performance. His voice and mannerisms are his winning points. One aspect I liked personally is the reference to the societal pressure (chaar log / naak jana / samaaja) that makes parents act against their children's desires and at times against their own wishes.
Arjun Janya has lost the charm to an extent. The drunk song isn't that good like the earlier ones. Arjun has experimented with the two love songs. Mainly, I would credit him for taking two good singers Palak Mucchal and Archana Ravi - both voices sound fresh and have good future. I just checked that one song is written by K Kalyan. At a time when K Kalyan has been neglected by the industry, this is a good gesture.
Adhyaksha is a good one time watch with friends and enjoy the comedy. I rate it at 2.99/5.
