THE ZX TENTHOUSAND WAS BORN

_en(only) The ZX story is one of the most iconic movements that were ever created by adidas. It was the professional running range from the brand back in the 90s. There were three types of support in the sneakers for different kinds of runners which was the real innovation. It started with the three digits range (i.e. adidas ZX 500) without any kind of support for stability and flexibility for runners with "normal" feet that didn't have any flaws in their technique. After that came the four-digit series where one of the most iconic models was the ZX8000 in the OG Aqua colourway. With this range, the technology called Torsion was introduced. It supported flexibility and stability of the front and rear parts of the feet and it's still used today. And at that point, we are getting closer to the latest addition to the range called the ZX 10.000 C (short for Cushion).

The whole ZX range was created in the 90s as I already mentioned and the latest addition to the range is actually a 30th-anniversary addition into the series created 30 years later like it was created back in the time. For the project of this reborn legend, the most relevant people from the adidas Statement team were invited including the young blood like Aurelien, George, Charles and more as well as the person who is considered the father of ZX and created a lot of the original designs back in the day - Mr. Jacques Chassaing.

In the end, I'll just say a few words about the colourful beauty that you can see in the pictures right here. On display, there are the first two released CWs of the ZX 10.000 C. The first to release was the collaboration with Overkill, probably the most relevant store to do this shoe with. It was co-designed by Mr EQT himself and probably the biggest Torsion kicks collector on earth also known as Marc Leuschner. Together with his team, they originally planned this release to be for Friends and Family only but after great feedback, it was an Overkill only release in Berlin (which we thankfully attended and I got my pair signed by Marc himself - thanks a million again my friend!). Although the shoe is sold out, it has a great collectors’ element to it. The colourway was inspired by combining the original CWs of the ZX four-digit range into one pair and it is stunning. The surprise moment comes when you open the box and find three sneakers inside. The full pair of the "green" kicks and one shoe of the "blue" colour. When buying the box, you always got a random blue assigned and if you want to complete the pair you need to trade or buy the second half of the blue pair from somebody in the same size and the opposite side. In one word, a very cool and original approach to a collaboration nowadays.

The second pictured pair came out as the second but it is considered the OG colourway of the ZX 10.000 C and is named "Supercolor." It is an adidas in-house project and on feet, it really shines. The original ZX colours like the light blue and material mix are both classical and modern at the same time. Anyway, if you like them, it's probably too late, but you can catch a few remaining sizes in Footshop and stay tuned for what the future will bring very soon :)

MEET THE OG

_en Every time adidas Originals dig in their archive, we have something to look for. This year is no exception in this regard as adidas Consortium decided to introduce another model from their past to the new generation of sneakerheads, the ZX 4000 OG returns.

When ZX is mentioned, some people think of the low-end ZX Flux model that has flooded many outlets in recent years. Others think of this year’s lifestyle silhouette, adidas ZX 500 RM, which added a Boost layer to the classic upper. Only very few people realise that the ZX line represented the Three Stripes’ most high-tech innovation in the running and training spheres.

The line debuted in 1984 with the ZX 500 model, the popular ZX 700 was later added and in 1989, ZX 4000, the first four-digit model, was revealed. The brand’s flagship was the direct competition of the inchoative Air Max line. It was also the ZX 4000 that debuted the Torsion technology, which made the sole firmer and prevented it from twisting. Although the line is often overlooked by mainstream sneakerheads, it’s been an iconic chapter of adidas’ running history since its origin. These models have been popular especially in Berlin as the history of its sneakers community is inseparably linked to adidas running silhouettes. To honour the release of the ZX 4000 OG, a phenomenal exhibition of all important ZX silhouettes was set up in London’s Covent Garden.

The 2018 version of the ZX 4000 OG stays true to the original but as always, adidas updated the model with the latest versions of the OG materials and technologies to prolong its service life. As a big fan and owner of several ZX silhouettes, I must stress their surprising comfort and firmness which keeps the foot in place well. The ZX 4000 OG is definitely a must-have model for those who love retro sneakers with a rich history. The last few pairs are still available in Footshop.

_cz Pokaždé, když adidas Originals zapátrá ve svých archivech, je na co se těšit. Jinak tomu není ani na sklonku letošního roku, kdy se v adidas Consortium rozhodli představit nové generaci sneakerheads další model z jejich minulosti - ZX 4000 OG.

Některým se při zmínce ZX vybaví hlavně low-end model ZX Flux, který zaplavil v posledních letech nejeden outlet. Jiným zase letošní lifestyle silueta adidas ZX 500 RM, která klasický svršek obohatila o silnou vrstvu Boostu. Málokdo už ale ví, že ZX řada představovala v 80 letech tu nejpokročilejší inovaci  ve sféře running a training od tří pruhů.

Debut série roku 1984 začal modelem ZX 500 a přes populární ZX 700 se v roce 1989 představil první z čtyřciferných modelů, ZX 4000. Vlajková loď značky představovala přímou konkurenci začínající řadě Air Max. Právě na ní byla představena technologie Torsion - zpevňující prvek v podrážce, který zabraňoval jejímu kroucení.  Přesto, že mainstream sneakerheads tuto řadu mnohdy opomíjejí, už v době jejího vzniku se jednalo o ikonickou kapitolu adidas running historie. Nejsilněji tyto modely rezonovaly v berlínské sneakers komunitě, která má historicky silný vztah k adidas running siluetám. Při příležitosti releasu modelu ZX 4000 v OG provedení také vznikla v londýnském Covent Garden fenomenální výstava všech stežejních siluet ZX série.

Pro rok 2018 je model ZX 4000 OG věrný své předloze, avšak, jak je tomu zvykem, adidas použil ty nejaktuálnější interpretace materiálů a technologií pro delší život siluety. Jako velký fanoušek série a majitel hned několika ZX siluet musím vyzdvihnout jejich překvapivou pohodlnost a pevnost, se kterou drží nohu. Jedná se o must-have model pro všechny fanoušky retro tenisek s bohatou historií. Posledních pár párů stále najdete na Footshopu.
