Lani had waited in line at the Ferris wheel for what felt like hours, impatiently watching as people were loaded on and off, and on and off, rinse and repeat. She was by her lonesome but was excited when the worker gestured for her to approach and get seated within her own bright red basket. She climbed in, sat down, thought that it might be almost relaxing to watch the festival from above.
That is, until the worker shoved in another lonely rider. They locked the basket’s caged door behind them, effectively trapping them with Leilani. No questions asked. No warnings.
“Goodness,” she said, laughing a little. “And then there were two.”
