Bonus page 9 - Pup trouble for Aedilis

The truth is, Aedilis would never hurt the Pups. She* once said she would do so to call her Warboys to order, but it was an empty threat. She knows the Warboys love their Pups and will behave if their Pups get involved. Warboys deliberately hurting Pups is a crime that will be punished, whereas Pups fighting amongst each other is seen as a natural thing.

The higher ups like Aedilis take great care to prevent violence against Pups. There is a ritual of initiation for the new Warboys: Their big brothers give them a headbutt or fight them in the pits (not at full strength though). This first use of violence makes them full Warboys, since these specific forms of violence can only take place between equals.

* I have no clue about Aedilis’ gender identity. To me, she’s rather beyond worrying about that and I guess it’s impossible to use the “wrong” pronouns for her because she doesn’t care how you see her

Ok, I admit things didn’t really happen like this, I went a bit wild with the idea of Hill rejecting Pups and Hitch being the victim haha But it’s true that Warboys get Pups assigned they have to take care of. It’s unusual Hill doesn’t have any pupils he teaches even though he used to be a talented lancer until he quit the road.

Hitch on the other hand even has two Pups (not six like in this funny bonus comic :P), even though he’s still young himself, he teaches them in lancing. Since Hikes is his driver, he helps out with the Pups very often.

Several people were interested in the relationship between Warboys and War pups, I hope this answers some of your questions?

Bonus page 1 - Aedilis being badass

Someone wanted to know more about Aedilis. She goes by she/they pronouns and sees herself as a Warboy. She was assigned male when she was lifted up to the Citadel and became a War Pup. When she hit puberty, it was found out that she bodily differed from the other War Pups and was forced to transition. Which spared her becoming a breeder, but nobody asked her opinion anyway.

Now she is responsible for the whole Citadel’s water supply. Her knowledge about the pipe system is invaluable, that’s why she doesn’t go on raids, even though she would hold the status of an Imperator if she wasn’t half-life.

She’s a strong believer in Joe and the cult, and it’s important for her that ‘her boys’ get the chance to die a glorious death out on the road, since this privilege is denied to herself for she rarely ever leaves the Citadel due to her duties.

Imperator Librarian once wanted to recruit her for her Mall Boys, but Aedilis is proud of the status she gained by her own merit and isn’t interested in owing anything to anybody.
