Part 1: Before RVU

Who on earth is he? That was the first question asked when the news that DaHye Jung married JuHo Choi. You see, DaHye was born into one of the wealthiest families in Korea so her name is pretty much a household name while JuHo lived a more private life so whenever people tried to do an online background check, they found nothing. Not the Jung family investigator, though. He found out that JuHo had a criminal record and Mr & Mrs. Jung did not like that about their daughter’s med school classmate turned boyfriend. Because DaHye wanted to spend the rest of her life with him despite that and because she wanted her future child/ren to live a life that is different from hers, she took all her savings and took to the United States with JuHo right after they graduated. That was in 1987.

After their wedding, it took the two a while to adjust to the American lifestyle and to be financially stable enough to have  a child. Two years to be exact. In early 1989, with both DaHye and JuHo thriving as a doctors, they decided they were ready to make their family bigger they succeeded at the first try. Their first and only child, Jin-joo “Jinny” Choi, was born a year later. From the moment Jinny was born, her parents never fell short of making her feel the love and safety that a child should feel. Did she feel alone though? Because of her babysitters, she never did and while her parents were not around as much as she wanted them to be, she understood that their jobs required their presence more and she was fine with that.

Jinny grew up to be independent and to be the girl that had a heart too big for her body and a brain that “she inherited from her parents”. With that brain, she did everything she could to live up to her parents’ reputation because while they told her that they would support her with whatever decision she makes, she felt like she had to follow in their footsteps. Not like she has a problem with that. She actually really wants to do it because after sneakingly watching her mother perform surgery on a baby, she knew she wanted to do something similar. She wanted to save lives of children.

No one’s life is perfect though. Hers was far from it. One day in school, she was 7 at the time, she was laughed at by her classmates for being an Asian that sounded American.It wasn’t easy to be Asian-American in her school. Some people told her to stop pretending to be American while others told her that it’s weird that she looks different from the rest of them. She was left out so many times and not even her kind heart made people want to give her a chance. That kind heart actually is one of the reasons why people her age were able to make her feel bad about herself for most of her elementary and highschool years. 

Part 2: During RVU

When she graduated from highschool, her 3.8 GPA led her to getting many offers at a scholarship and out of those offers, she chose to take the one given to her by Rom Valley  University where she spent the next four years studying psychology. It was in RVU that she felt safe to be who she is and where she was given the opportunities to grow with people. However, because of how focused she was on getting a high GPA and graduating college with honors, she rarely made time to do something fun. She was that girl who spent her time either studying, reading a book, occasionally watching a movie or sleeping. Many people told her that she is depriving herself of “the full college experience” by skipping parties that she was invited to or saying no to dates that she was asked out on, but she did not mind. She had to get things right, and going out to drink and being in a relationship might get in the way of that. Then there is the fact that the one time she actually gave being a relationship a try, it did not end well but that is a story for another day.

Part 3: After RVU

Not wanting to waste any time, Jinny went straight to medschool after graduating from college. She stayed focused all throughout those four years and throughout her five years of residency for general surgery. And as much as she tried to prevent it from happening, she ended up being too tired to actually hang out with the friends that she made at RVU. It was when  she was nearing the end of her first year as a pediatric surgery resident that she felt like she finally could reconnect with those people. As if the universe heard her and wanted to help her with that, she received the invitation to the RVU reunion.

Part 4: Back to RVU

She was nervous to come back, that was for sure. Waking up one day to be 20 years old again was not what she expected to happen. The thing was she did not think anything was wrong with that until she felt like there was something else that she needed to do. She was unable to figure out what that something was, however, so she just carried on with her second chance at “getting the full college experience”. Who knows? Maybe things will be different for her this time.

bestfriend: I want her best friend to be the type that would always try to get her to go out and actually have some fun. There are a few times that this person succeeded but most of the time, she does not. She stuck around with Jinny despite that though, and she is one of the few who understood why she had to disappear for a bit after college.

friend group in college: This could comprise of nerdy girls like her and the adventurous type (I love when opposites become friends!)

people she tutors: Jinny loves helping people so she volunteers to help other students with catching up with class and the workload !

boys her friends set her up with: This could be a lot because her friends really wanted her to be more out there, but she never said yes (except that one time which I will expound on below!) We can plot how things went down and all that jazz. c:

the one almost boyfriend: I want Jinny to have tried to give a relationship at least once and at first, she thought it was going well, but she was wrong and it ended up making her cry for a few nights. Exact details can be plotted when someone decides to fill this in!!

in college, toph is studying musical theatre with minors in technical theatre and songwriting

although he enjoys being social and going to the occasional party, christopher also enjoys spending his free time in the music room (which his professor had given him a key to) writing songs on the grand piano (it was so much better playing on the grand than his keyboard at his dorm with headphones so he didn’t disturb his roommate)

as an adult, topher is a professional actor on broadway and has released two albums

along with his success in the musical world, toph has also gained a following -- mostly teenage girls. as much as he adores them, he also finds himself getting anxious and paranoid sometimes. he’s had a few scares -- threatening letters and messages on social media. one guy even followed him back to his hotel one night when he was visiting LA. 

he also found out the hard way (although he wasn’t surprised) that there were quite a few people out there who didn’t approve of him being open about his sexuality. 

toph can be a loner sometimes, and although he puts on a mask that he’s fine with it, he really would like to spend more time with loved ones instead of always working and coming home and ordering takeout by himself.

BIOGRAPHY | STATISTICS

QUICK FACTS

Was adopted by a Korean family and grew up in central California. Had a sister, who is the biological daughter of his adoptive parents.

Had a quiet yet warm childhood. His family was his bestest friends

Decided to become a lawyer because he learned that his dad was previously a lawyer before retiring to be a full-time homemaker

Only had a very select number of friends during RVU pre-law days, but had a bunch of acquaintances

Dad died around the his 2nd year of college, and then mom retired as a lab researcher to teach at RVU. Spent most of his time with mom after his dad died. Sister moved Germany to be an orchestra conductor (hahah fucking dork)

Got into Cornell for law school and then stopped talking to RVU friends. Got a great internship with an activist law firm.

Mom died 5 months after passing the bar exam, and so he focused all of his time on working as a lawyer for the Innocence Project. He also stopped communicating with his RVU friends around this time. 

Quit from the Innocence Project after the first man who’s sentence he overturned committed the same crimes he was wrongfully accused of. This incident really messed him up and he started to have a change of outlook. 

Quickly got employed by a corrupt politician as a personal lawyer. He’s now currently a corporate lawyer for said politician’s conglomerate.

Donates most of his earnings to cancer research and environmental conservation. 

Didn’t want to attend the RVU reunion, but decided to do so after learning that his mom was gonna be posthumously awarded.

Power outage sent him back to 2010 with very vague memories of the future. He only remembers these:

People thought he was gay because he never showed romantic interest in any of the girls who approached him. He’s in fact a demisexual, but he doesn’t know that word yet.

          born in albany, new york to philip and danielle schuyler, the schuyler twins had been the center of their parents’ world from the moment they took their very first breath. they never had to want for anything and their childhood was often spent in upstate new york, visiting a family cabin during the holidays. it was those winter adventures that inspired vienna to pick up her first pair of skates, wanting to join the teens who’d she see skating across a frozen lake. at first she stumbled through, barely being able to keep herself upright, but by the end of the holidays she had mastered how to glide across the frozen landscape. after that it was only a matter of time before she started begging for lessons which inevitably lead to small competitions and private coaching.

          after developing a familiar routine on and off the ice, her parents getting transferred to bellevue, washington caused the schuyler family to move across the country and a seed of doubt to be placed in vienna’s head. while at first apprehensive that her ice skating career would never get to see the light of day, her nerves were quick to dissipate once she joined a local rink and continued her budding career as a skater. homeschooled so she could have time for her private coaching, vienna never got to socialize with others her age, often sticking to the sidelines and offering shy smiles to her fellow competitors. instead her downtime was spent alone, although sometimes in the company of her twin, as she binged movie franchises from star wars to lord of the rings.

             by the time she was a freshmen in high school, most of her summers were spent in san diego for a weekend, attending comic con whenever the dates didn’t coincide with her skating life. socially inept with no skills other than skating, vienna’s parents made it a point for her to attend a university like them, not believing that their daughter’s skating career would be enough to keep her afloat despite the success of her international junior career. vienna found herself reluctantly agreeing, being too timid to argue and chose to join rvu knowing her old coach from new york had moved down to california.

            a wallflower entering university, attempting to make friends and being in a school setting had felt like a rug being pulled right from under her. in her classes she was hardly acknowledged, only having her presence known whenever she was paired up for a group project. without the private tutor she was used to having her whole life, class settings were often spent with her lost in thought, filling her mind with daydreams of the future and random thoughts about whatever film she had watched the night prior. even when confronted outside of class, she’d often have a soft tone with whoever she was talking to, her eyes cast down as if she was only a few minutes away from stuttering. when you did notice her, it wasn’t uncommon to find a beginning of a blush forming on her face, a nervous smile becoming her default expression whenever interacting with someone.

            stretched thin with her studies and unable to qualify for the 2009 u.s. nationals championship, it was common knowledge within the skating community that vienna would still continue training during the current cycle of competitions instead of participating. skipping most of the major international competitions, she instead put her energy and skills into having a set of polished routines ready for the 2011 circuit. but with her degree being in sports broadcasting, espn had invited her to be a co-commentator for the 2009 world championships held in los angeles. with the conversation being about a topic she knew like the back of her hand, her commentary came fluidly and her usually bashful nature was nowhere to be seen as she observed the performances before her. with that attempt successful, it was no surprise that she was invited to vancouver to once again commentate on the competition.

2 0 1 0 - 2 0 2 0

            graduating from rom valley university in 2010, she became a paid intern at espn, attending different competitions whenever she wasn’t competing in them. the internship only lasted a year, with her putting her broadcast career on pause to focus full-time on the 2014 olympic circuit. the next few years passed by in a breeze with her getting silver at the 2013 u.s. nationals and sixth place in the world championship, earning the united states a third spot in the olympics. during the 2014 u.s. championships, vienna placed first in the short and free programs, winning the national title and securing a spot on the u.s. olympic team. the rest of her career followed similarly, with her once again competing and placing in world’s as well as winning a bronze team medal in the 2018 olympics.

            before the throwback to 2010 happened, vienna had taken another pause in her competitive career, having suffered a stress fracture that put her out of commission. however, as a now internationally decorated medalist, she found herself returning to her broadcast roots, once again commentating at the different competitions and being interviewed on numerous talk shows. throughout her years post-graduation, she had kept in touch with a few people but for the most has kept to herself, preferring her own company over any amount of people. now able to turn on her charisma in situations non-related to skating, she had found herself content with where she was in life, with her days of smiling bashfully at the ground long gone, instead being replaced with confidence.

janis najafi was born to a community who loved and supported her before she was even born. seriously , she was born on a commune sjfdjgdf. full of hippies , just like her parents who named her janis after joplin , of course. 

there , she was taught and lived a very different lifestyle than most. she was taught anti-capitalistic values , free love , and political activism. she grew up with a vegetarian diet within an eco-friendly system where everyone worked to keep the community afloat. 

around the time she was thirteen , the commune died down until only her family and another were left. seeing no reason to keep it alive , the commune officially disbanded and the najafi family moved to massachusetts to be closer to her father’s side of the family. it was a HUGE culture shock for janis , going from a small community of hippies to the capitalistic world she was taught against. it definitely made her the odd one out at school , but she was able to navigate her way through life while keeping her morals and values intact. 

she never expected to get into rvu , her dream school , but it happened. her parents wanted her to stay behind and help run the small family bookshop , but janis had bigger plans. she wanted to be a midwife , and rvu offered her the classes she needed and the california sunshine she missed. 

college

so , plans changed. she still wanted to do something that required medical training but halfway through her second year , she switched to premed to become an ob-gyn. why ?  i don’t know , but she did. however , to get herself through the financial mess that is school , she did work as a doula for most of her college career. 

lots of people labeled her “ weird “ , but i don’t think she ever got the memo. she was definitely one of the free spirits on campus and was NOT afraid to show it.

very friendly to everyone , no matter which way they viewed her. lots of her professors thought she had done one too many psychedelic mushrooms which she did , but that was just how she was. would talk to anyone who would listen or , well , anyone who was standing near her. 

y’all knew she was around when the smell of incense was lingering.

present

she still worked as a doula as she searched for jobs. it took about a year , but she was hired to work in a big practice in one of the most expensive areas in town.

it was fine for the first few months , but she was noticing how exclusive it was to only people with money. it was always people with expensive purses and designed clothes coming in to the practice , their prices abnormally high. it annoyed janis to no end , so she quit.

she opened up her own practice ( with the help of a business major pal wc ???  ) and became her own boss in a small yet comfortable ob-gyn office. although her office is in a somewhat pricey area , she works with anyone with a vagina no matter their financial situation. is a hard darn believer that healthcare should be accessed by anyone and everyone , so she works hard to make her prices fair.

got married whaaat ???  she married the loml , nathaniel donovan. they adopted their first kid after many failed attempts in getting pregnant but as they were going through the adoption process , janis found out she was pregnant with twins so...crazy how that worked !

still very much in tune with her hippie lifestyle.

Keon grew up in Compton and has the rough, no nonsense outlook on life to prove it. He’s seen it all, from prostitution to drug deals to murders. His older brother was a blood but after a drive-by that left him and two other friends dead Keon threw himself into rap and school, staying late at the school’s abysmal library and forming a close bond with the band director at his high school.

He's currently at RVU on a basketball scholarship but his main passion is his music. He’s known to break into a freestyle at any given opportunity and his production skills are unmatched at the school.

As an adult he’s found huge success with his music under the name KB Heavy leading to two Grammys. He’s basically forgotten about RVU, seeing it and the people he met there, as nothing more than a fond memory.

he   doesn't   exactly   blend   in   ,   not   that   he   expects   to   with   his   questionable   fashion   choices   and   unfamiliar   accent   ,   but   standing   out   has   never   been   an   issue   for   him   .   in   fact   ,   he   somewhat   relishes   in   the   discomfort   his   boldness   wrings   out   of   those   around   him   .   

he's   a   bit   of   a   lone   wolf   -   but   in   a   paradoxical   way   ,   where   he   hovers   from   group   to   group   but   doesn't   have   one   solid   ,   set   group   of   friends   .   he's   a   people's   person   ,   yet   few   really   know   him   .   

he   lives   with   his   head   in   the   clouds   and   with   his   heart   firmly   on   his   sleeve   -   he   falls   in   love   a   couple   of   times   a   day   ,   his   mind   is   a   constant   flow   of   inner   monologue   ,   he's   only   ever   half   paying   attention   to   the   world   around   him   .

he's   inquisitive   by   nature   -   he   likes   to   test   the   boundaries   ,   &   to   explore   every   inkling   he   gets   .   his   first   year   in   america   is   when   he   really   starts   to   soul   -   search   a   little   ;   he   has   his   first   intimate   relationship   with   a   guy   ,   his   first   proper   girlfriend   ,   he   finds   his   passion   in   the   horror   genre   ,   he   begins   his   first   blog   .

shortly   after   graduation   ,   cliff   finds   himself   scouted   by   a   modelling   agency   .   it's   not   his   dream   by   a   stretch   ,   but   it   helps   to   rake   in   some   money   while   he   focuses   his   spare   time   on   his   first   novel   .   

his   novel   faces   rejection   ,   of   course   ,   from   multiple   agencies   until   finally   he   finds   the   one   .   it's   by   no   means   a   best   seller   ,   but   it's   successful   .   

his   life   now   is   working   on   his   second   novel   (   which   has   been   a   LONG   progress   ....   phew   ....   he's   slowly   Spiralling   )   ,   modelling   on   the   low   -   low   ,   raising   his   doberman   like   a   proud   father   ,   &   still   living   life   on   the   eDgE

O1 x. Then - Originally from Australia, Julian moved to the states on a sports scholarship for swimming while taking his degree in business at SVU. His parents were less than thrilled to send him away but after a lot of reassurance that he was going to eat three meals a day & get plenty of sleep, the deal was sealed. Of course, Julian doesn’t do either of those things but what his parents didn’t know won’t kill them. Sleeping doesn’t earn scholarships, after all.  O3 x. Then - However, sometime after being admitted to SVU, his parents got a divorce and Julian’s mom moved to the states to be closer to him. She had nothing left for her in Australia and considered it a fresh start. His dad stayed behind to run the family business, a small traditional Korean restaurant. Julian’s still close to both of his parents but considerably more so his mother. He couldn’t exactly afford to jet off to visit his dad every other weekend and even on a scholarship, Julian was working multiple jobs to pay his bills so as not to burnden his mother. 

O2 x. Now - Julian graduated SVU, one of the top of the class, and moved into a job as a financial advisor for small and large hospitals alike. He frequently travels but still comes back home on occassion to visit his family. It’s been 10 years and Julian’s mom, Nora Hwang, is remarried to Flynn Caldwell. He’s also gained a step brother in the process, Austin Caldwell, who just so happens to have attended the same university as him.   O4 x. Now - Julian can’t say that he necessarily dislikes the Caldwell’s but there’s some resentment there. Him and Austin led two very different lives growing up and couldn’t be more dissimilar. It wasn’t so much that Julian was never allowed to be a teenager, it was just never an option that crossed his mind considering their financial burdens. Of course, now with a financially stable husband, Julian feels as though his mom doesn’t rely on him as much anymore. It should be a relief, honestly, but what about all of his hard work? All those years he gave up? The many, many jobs he’d worked to make sure she’d never pay a dime for his education? It all seems so pointless now but what else can he do but keep working?

↣ Good Traits: Hard-working, companionly, kind, & patient ↣ Neutral Traits: Quiet, frugal, paternal, responsible, & a perfectionist ↣ Bad Traits: Self-destructive, fanatical, uptight, & a pushover 

O1 x. Self-Destructive - Has a bad habit of sacrificing himself for everything & anything else. Sleeping, eating, & socializing are no match for studying, clubs, & work. If he’s stressed, he’ll work himself into a tizzy about it until the job is done or he’s burnt out. Rarely fails at completing tasks, but has been known to spell his own demise by getting stress-sick or otherwise working himself up too much. Sometimes (read: all the time) he’s convinced he’s going to fail, drop out, & become homeless. Has a hard time looking at the silver lining when it comes to his own life, even if he is generally uplifting of others. These days he’s chilled out considerably since university but still tends to forget to take care of himself. 

O2 x. Fanatical - Becomes obsessed with tasks, no matter the subject. Kind of a perfectionist & will work himself until he can’t anymore. Sometimes scares people with just how much he cares about things. Tends to go over & beyond what is expected or even wanted sometimes. It has landed him a couple of nice promotions up into the present day though. The only thing that’s changed since his university days is that he almost needs something to obsess over or he’ll remember how pointless it all really is. 

O3 x. Hard-Working & Studious - Can be depended on to put in the proper effort & do it right. Rarely spends time not doing something productive and frequently multitasks. It’s not that he’s particularly giften in the brain department, he’s about average really, but the constant studying earned himself A’s throughout school and now a pretty swaggin job. Definitely not a quitter and pretty stubborn about finishing things and doing it right. 

O4 x. Companionly - A good and trusting friend through and through. That mom friend at the party making sure you stay hydrated. Enjoys spending time with others no matter the occasion, wether that be his sports friends or study buddies. Loves his friends a little too much & tends to be really touchy. Expect many hugs & cuddles. Would do anything for his friends, sometimes a little too much, even if they don’t ask for it. Easy to get along with if you can handle his eccentricities. These days, Julian is still the same old friendly guy but with a more professional vibe.

Past (2010) O1 x. Drugdealer - Julian is usually pretty responsible but his need to work as much as possible has led him down a dangerous path, study drugs. Looking for someone who can deal him the good stuff to get him through on minimal sleep. Might involve a bit of debt.  O2 x. Bad Influence - Julian is pretty goody two shoes but I’d love to have someone pull him out to parties (get him out of the library) - make him live a little and not totally regret working through his best years.  O3 x. Mom? - Julian is pretty well known for being that mom friend, so if you need some good influencing, you’ve come to the right place! Just looking for some people he can take care of and be overbearing on.   O4 x. College Sweetheart - Someone he’ll lay down the books for unconditionally, really. He may be a workaholic but he’s also a romantic at heart. Open to any gender.  O5 x. Platonic Cuddles - Julian is just really touchy in general so someone he can just cuddle with without it being weird would be chill. Need some of that wholesome stuff in my life.  O6 x. Good Influence - Julian is usually the good influence but I was thinking someone who brings him food, reminds him to eat, reminds him to sleep, and all that good self care shit he probably needs help with.  Present (2020)  O1 x. Unresolved Tension - Idk maybe someone he had a crush on or vice versa? Make it awkward and weird because I love that. Bring up old memories and feelings.  O4 x. Why weren’t we friends before? - Someone he wasn’t friends with in uni, but somehow met after the fact or maybe they were enemies. Someone he butted heads with but now they’re basically best friends?? 

These are really just some thoughts I had & I might add more later but I’m open to anything and everything so let’s talk about it!! Ofc I’m still looking for more generic plots like friends, hookups, enemies, etc, etc. The possibilities are endless!
