I’ve had this sitting in my drive... For longer than I would like to admit. But! This is for the show Next to Normal which is so emotion and I recommend it to everybody. So here we go! (I’ll include some songs from the show that helped me decide on characters.)
Diana: Morgan. Described in the script as "Sexy. Sharp. Delusional bipolar depressive.” The way that Morgan seems to constantly deal with this sort of inner turmoil, whether she shows it or not, makes me feel like she could pull off playing a woman that is struggling to live her life on a day to day basis. ( I Miss the Mountains / You Don’t Know )
Dan: Hamish. Described in the script as "Diana's husband. Handsome. Genuine. Constant. Tired.” Okay. So I don’t normally pull from the Kingsman or Statesman agents because I like to try and challenge myself by only using agents that belong to Roanoke. But, I just had to use Merlin for this. I feel like he’s the only one that could convincingly pull off being Morgan’s devoted but tired husband. Not to mention how he has to interact with Charlie. He could truly pull off the emotional depth needed for this character. ( I Am The One (up to 1:00) / I Am The One Reprise )
Gabe: Charlie. Described in the script as "Diana's son. Dashing. Gentile. Bright. Playful. Everything a mother would want.” I feel like Charlie has the right emotions to pull off this character. Just, smooth and charming but also really emotional. You know, just desperate to get his parents to acknowledge him. ( I’m Alive / I Am The One Reprise )
Natalie: Anna/Ondine. Described in the script as "Diana's daughter. Trying to be perfect. It's not going well." I really drew from High school AU Anna for this (and because I’m self projecting ayyy) but if I had to pick another person, I definitely feel like Ondine would fit this role so well. Natalie is just very emotional and I feel like either Anna or Ondine could pull off her desperation to get her mother’s attention. ( Everything Else / Superboy and the Invisible Girl )
Henry: Drake/Rum. Described in the script as "Musician. Romantic. Stoner. Slacker. Philosopher king.” Just, just look at the description. That was enough for me. (Not to mention the fact of Drake or Rodney just endlessly trying to get Anna or Angela’s attention is very entertaining to me.) ( Hey #1 )
Doctor Madden: Sentinel. Described in the script as "On the young side of ageless. Assured. A rock star." He was the first one I thought of. It just fits. That and I needed somebody who could be eye candy for most of the show.
