For sentence starters, “I don’t want to be alone right now.”
“I don’t want to be alone right now.” + Bucktommy (I'm guessing from your page?)
“I don’t want to be alone right now.”
The whispered confession was almost so quiet, Tommy nearly missed it. But he didn't. He didn't and each weighted word opened up a hole in his chest that let in air he didn't know what to do with.
Tommy inhaled. The air filled into his lungs and held. The weight didn't go away.
Tommy exhaled and sat down beside Evan, leaning in just enough to brush against his arm even though he knew it was a mistake. One he wouldn't be able to break away from the moment they came in contact again. Because Evan opened up to touch like a flower seeking sunlight. Every kiss, every brush of his knuckles, every caress of his finger tips made Evan beam up at him like Tommy had just give him the world and Tommy never knew what to do with that.
He still didn't.
But he brushed his arm against Evan and Evan opened up only to wilt even further in himself as if he simply didn't have the strength anymore. His knuckles went white with how tightly he was gripping onto his legs, curling into an even tighter ball that seemed almost impossible for someone so big and so bright that Tommy couldn't imagine a world without him in it.
"What happened?" Tommy asked when the silence got too thick like humidity hanging on their skin.
Evan blinked fast, ducking his head to hide his face in the crook of his elbow, and didn't answer.
Except maybe his silence was an answer.
Or maybe part of an answer.
The hitched breath, the quiet sob, were both things Tommy knew Evan probably wished he hadn't heard. But he did and Tommy couldn't do nothing. Even if it meant ripping out his own heart and giving it to Evan to crush beneath his fist, Tommy would do it if it meant helping him, protecting him from whatever hurt was hanging around long enough to make Evan cry.
"C'mere," Tommy said, holding open his arm and curling it tight back around too thin shoulders when Evan tipped over to bury his face Tommy's chest and cried. "I've got you."
