If you could appoint ANY other House from Westeros (Other than the Targaryens) with the task of ruling the Seven Kingdoms from the Iron Throne, which one would you pick and why?
I’d probably pick House Hightower, assuming we’re choosing the house as a political institution rather than pretending every member would automatically be a good monarch.
They have enormous wealth, one of the most important cities in Westeros, deep connections to trade, the Faith and the Citadel, and centuries of experience surviving political changes without needing to constantly set half the continent on fire. Oldtown is also economically and culturally important enough that they already understand governance beyond simply commanding armies.
That said, I don’t really believe any House is inherently suited to rule. Give the throne to the wrong Hightower and you can still end up with a disaster. Westeros has spent several thousand years proving that a prestigious surname is not a substitute for competence. 🤣
Why do watchers of House of the Fan Fiction think we're hypocritical for not liking the Hightowers and stanning Targaryens
Okay, Targaryens are incestuous, fine, but is that the only attack you have on them? can't you mention that most of the men in that family suck ass? or that even while not NECESSARILY following Andal succession or the FOT7 they are all deeply misogynistic and abusive of their women?
We don't like the Hightowers, much like a lot of people because they have no redeeming qualities, they're literally medieval misogynists with nothing cool to them and are hypocritical too, it's like you put the middle aged roman church into a fantasy universe just as they are without making changes to them and dial up their cunning by 10x, so basically the roman church
Show Ormund may have noted that Meria was a military genius but he can't even do that without making a snide comment about how the gods divested her beauty in change for a brain like hers since women can't have it all or specifying that she was the ONLY (calling the rest of the women brainless) he has no respect or regard for history at that because imagine talking about a queen who slayed not just any dragon but MERAXES with her brains like this, in such a dismissive way, because the Greens and Hightower are fundamentally misogynists, they don't want women in power
Show Ormund also despises the Targaryens on a supremacist level but is actively using Daeron and his dragon in order to fight, no true believer or non hypocrite would ever do this, he's essentially Ryan Condal who hates the Targaryens but has to milk them dry of content and make fanfiction out of them to pay his bills
"But Targaryens are valyrian supremacists too" and that's whats funny, just like all Targaryens not all Hightowers are supremacists but Ormund hating the Targaryens doesnt make him better than them because he is also just like them, with an additional chud factor of being a hypocrite
Also, Targaryen's feeling of supremacy over their blood doesn't exist in a vacuum exclusive to them because literally every house in Westeros thinks the same because they come from the ANDALS and the FIRST MEN, just like Targaryens come from Valyria, they also hold supremacist ideals, difference is they don't wield dragons, but do you really think they'd be any different if they had dragons, before Westeros even they had slavery! hell they didn't have dragons and they still colonized Westeros and drove the native population to extinction (GENOCIDE)
And this brings me to my point of them claiming that targaryens colonized Westeros, people, Westeros is a colonial nation even if you take out the targs from it, Targaryens lived on dragonstone which is a part of Westeros for many of their generations before conquering even began, they were Westerosis when they began to conquer the damn continent, they conquered it, they didn't colonize it, a colony also requires a Home Land to carry back to, Targaryens integrated into Westeros on the other hand
House Hightower is now irrelevant to the main story while Daenerys Targaryen of House Targaryen continues her fight against slavery, better than Valyrians, Andals and the First Men, in fact she's better than all the characters in F&B, what are you gonna do about it, considering that book and all of Targaryen history is written to pave the road that leads to her
LIVE LAUGH LOVE DAENERYS TARGARYEN
Queen of the Andals, the rhoynar and the first men, the khaleesi of the great grass sea, the prince that was promised, the stallion who mounts the world, azor ahai, breaker of chains, the mother of dragons, the unburnt, they slayer of lies, lady of the seven kingdoms and protector of the realm💖
Gwayne Hightower not having even a single shirtless scene is a crime against humanity
just a little sketch
I gosh hate that Hightower and Lannister are translated in German, and why is lannister written with an E insteaf of A (I'm not gonna use german bastard costumes) and if someone says targaryen in a german way something is about to fly
Pre mourning ormund hightower bc they'll probably take him out back and shoot him next episode
wait so are tyrells descendants of hightowers? i keep seeing that come up from time to time by others but don't know how true it is.
If you mean Margaery Tyrell and her siblings, then yes, anon.
Their mother is Alerie Hightower, daughter of Lord Leyton Hightower, so Margaery, Willas, Garlan and Loras are all Hightowers through their maternal line.
But House Tyrell as a whole is not simply descended from House Hightower. The connection comes through that specific marriage between Mace Tyrell and Alerie. Westerosi family trees are already enough of a fucking shrubbery without making every Reach house secretly the same family. 😂
