Seriously y’all, claims that sudden onset anosmia (loss of sense of smell) and dysgeusia (diminishing of sense of taste) may be symptoms of Covid-19 are coming from the American Association of Otolaryngology, the British Rhinological Society, and the British Association of Otorhinolaryngology, this is not a drill, it’s not fearmongering. There’s also anecdotal evidence that these may be the only symptoms some individuals with mild cases of the disease experience.
If you experience these issues during this time, self isolate, avoid large crowds, I would recommend getting tested but I know not everyone has that option and a lot of places are asking you don’t come in unless you’re actively dying anyway.
Other nossies? Peeps with ageusia/dysgeusia? Just do what you can. Keep an eye on your other sense if you have it and be careful. I know none of us want to get anyone sick if we can help it.
Just, stay safe y’all, and keep others safe around you as well you can
You know on the surface you'd think Dimitri is saying this because he he hasn't tried the tea yet. Nope! It's because he literally can't taste it. In a support conversation with Flayn its revealed he cant taste anything.
When I found out though I was shocked by this because one I didn't know this is an actual thing some people have and it's called ageusia. I'm also surprised because it seems extra tragic like IS already wrote Dimitri as a tragic character. His Crest is from a dragon called the Grim dragon for gods sake. I guess the writers were like let's sprinkle on some more tragedy. Either that or it could just play into how much damage mentally and physically war has put him through, since brain trauma can cause this condition. So yeah this seemingly lighthearted question is actually a pretty deppressing one. At least his final support with Flayn suggests he was able to taste her cooking if only for a moment.
Happy Anosmia Awareness Day!!
Also, because I can’t find anything about awareness days for them- Be Aware of Anaphia and Ageusia as well!
Weird taste/losing taste?
So we unfortunately have COVID after a 5 year run of not having it. We woke up to a loss of smell this morning (never happened when we first had COVID) but we've managed to retain a bit of our sense of taste (I just noticed when drinking an orange Gatorade I could sort of taste it but only about 10% in the back of our mouth/tongue).
Same thing happened when I tried hot sauce; mostly can't taste it; I can feel the spiciness and I know it has a delicious taste, but most of the taste is gone. I'm confused. Anyone have any insight as to whether this is perhaps Dysgeusia? Or normal anosmia and ageusia with COVID?
Man what was I doing in 2021. Containing: -An ad for Honeycombs the cereal that completely consumed my life for a month -An ad for smoothies for children? Called North Queensland Fresh IIRC -An ad for sugar free Jello -The theme song for a local radio show -Something else I won't spoil for you
guess who just realized they can't taste with their tongue?
Fences, notes from Week #3
Fences, notes from Week #3
Every time you think you’ve exhausted an August Wilson play, new ideas, thoughts and connections spill out and overflow whatever container you may have thought previously existed. That is certainly the case with Fences. We spoke in our group discussion of Fences as a play of many betrayals, some more obvious and some less obvious. Troy Maxson is the immediate first place for identification of…
