Do we have an approximated location to Agnapolis and Permafrost?

Bring us to Agnapolis! I seriously want to know about Cecil more since we're not really given much information about him anime wise outside of him being a prince. I want to know what Agnapolis looks like!😁

I would love to see that too! Both Agnapolis and Permafrost seem to be very interesting places to explore, I’d love to see any of the two animated. But from the stereotyped vibes that Broccoli gives us with Cesshi and Camus, you can imagine Agnapolis as a place with deserts and woods. Not much water considering Cecil’s fear (lol). There was a post someone made years ago really breaking down the lyrics of Ai no Reincarnation and going after those weird words he said in order to track down where he could possibly be from, based in our world. Unfortunately though, I lost the post and idk if the OP deleted their post/blog, so I can’t give you a link :(

FOR ANYONE WHO HAS EVER WANTED TO COSPLAY THE MAGICAL PRINCE OF AGNAPOLIS! I GOT YOU FAM! 

I dunno if any other Cecil cosplayers went though this struggle when it came to his cultural tattoo & wanted to do it but couldn’t find a template? Yeah. That was me today! But with help from my buddies I managed to get his design template so now I’m sharing it with the Utapri Fandom! I hope any future Cecil cosplayers, fan artists or just Utapri fans in general find this helpful! =^w^= Please share with your friends & credit Yasogami!

So I decided to keep digging for clues as to where exactly Agnapolis  ( BECAUSE MY INNER ARCHEOLOGIST/LOVER OF OTHER CULTURES SELF CAME OUT) could be after reading that incredible post by @xsweetkyandi and although after listening to THIS video about the Maltese language (which we have confirmed is what language Cecil is singing in at the beginning of Ai no Reincarnation):

I am still leaning more towards Sri Lanka at this point just based on location and because of the stunning similarities between Cecil Aijima and the Sri Lankan prince Pandukabhaya of  Anuradhapura. They both have incredibly similar histories. So I think that prince was a huge inspiration FOR Cecil. Here is a small 1 minute travel vid about this city:

The video goes to explain how there is a location where people believe has a cutting of Buddah’s Tree of Enlightment. As pictured above, there is a very Buddah-like statue found in Agnapolis so the puzzle pieces keep adding up. THE ONLY THING keeping me from saying Agnapolis IS Anuradhapura is the fact that Cecil is speaking Maltese and then THIS wall of muses that resemble Greek/Roman walls not to mention so do some pillars in Agnapolis. 

Malta is located below Italy/ Sicily. And Sri Lanka is located below India, Sri Lanka is closer to Japan - where STARISH lives. So geologically speaking, because I’ve seen Cecil travel PRETTY fast to and from Agnapolis. I WANT to believe Agnapolis is in Sri Lanka. But the Roman muses especially of music that Cecil worships are too uncanny to Rome/ Sicily. And the Maltese language video explains that the HISTORY of Malta has migrants from Arabic speaking countries. Cecil is canonically an Arabian Prince. Maltese is a combo of Arabic/French/English/ Sicilian (due to different countries owning it at some point). Cecil SOMETIMES throws out random English AND French words when he talks. Probably because his mother tongue IS Maltese.

Cecil himself also confirms that his ancestors came to this land ages ago. Just like the Arabic speaking people of Malta did. And  the name Cecil itself is of Roman origin. Further confirming the Sicilian influence.

SO WHAT CAN WE CONCLUDE FROM ALL THIS?!

I guess it’s safe to say that BROCCOLI used Maltese AND Sri Lankan cultures to influence the character of Cecil Aijima.

1. I DO believe history wise, Cecil is based on the Sri Lankan Prince  Pandukabhaya. Their stories/struggles are similar.  

2. Geography wise - Agnapolis the city resembles PREDOMINATLY the architecture and landscapes of the ancient city of Anuradhapura. With some Roman influences in the walls and pillars. But the distance from Japan to Sri Lanka is more plausible for Cecil’s fast travels in the show.

3. Agnapolis Theology - The worshipping of Muses (mostly of music) is closer to the Roman origins. Cecil’s Arabic ancestors mirgrated probably to Malta and adopted the culture. YET in Agnapolis we also see a Buddah. Which means Broccoli decided to combine Sri Lanka AND Malta for Cecil’s theology.

WELP. I FINISHED MY RESEARCH ON THIS TODAY. I FEEL LIKE AN ARCHEOLOGIST...FOR ANIMU. YAAAAY XD! Ok now to listen to Cecil sing more. And give props to Kosuke Toriumi for being a trooper and probably having a dialect coach teach him how to properly pronounce Maltese for his song. (I TRIED TO AND IT WAS SO HARD FOR ME! SO....BOWS DOWN TO THIS SEIYUU. Mad respect bro.)
