The decision to pull out an old Marie Antoinette costume for Halloween was risky, yes. It was practically begging for some smart ass fifth grader to announce “off with your head!” upon even the slightest bit of pushback. Even so, it was a reliable hit, one that stayed for away from being inappropriate or underachieving. She was proud of it, and walked a little taller for it.
As a certified goofball with a son in tech school, Arlo figured that he might as well combine those into a Halloween costume. Upon hearing the mere idea of a mad scientist, he knew that’s what he had to dress up as. He stockpiled some dry ice, just so he could cackle evilly over a post of pasta in the diner.
For Halloween, Carla figured she need only find the most topical option, something culturally relevant, entertaining, and fitting in with her very established town rep. With a nonchalant air, she picked the Joker. It will be a bucketful of creepy laughs, which is Carla’s specialty.
task 4 : halloween costume
If there’s anything Mateo learned from college, it was that Halloween was the one night of the year where he could wear anything, and nobody would say shit. Or if they did say shit, he could just claim the halloween spirit possessed him. Some used this excuse to go opulent, others convenient, but Mateo? He followed the Mean Girls adage of using it to wear the most ostentatious of lingerie outside. In honor of Mean Girls, he picked his costume:
A Sexy Mouse.
It was a shame that none of the Halloween stores offeres sexy mice costumes for men, but he wasn’t above a little bit of gender bending with his outfits, especially when it was halloween.

Paying homage to a classic, Islebury’s own horror and mystery author, Bex Navarro, steps out as Stephen King’s Carrie. The first half of the evening is spent claiming she is not dressed as Olivia Rodrigo, but a bucket of blood is waiting to solidify the homage once the younger goblins and ghouls are whisked away to bed to await the Great Pumpkin.
