FROM THE ASHES , SHE RISES and implants a tender kiss to soft cheeks. months had passed since a horrific ORDEAL that nearly robs her of breath / she ‘ cheated death ’ with the help of the living and deceased /. gloved digits took grasp of his, newly headmaster, letting her affections subside. it was new to attempt this tactic --- things change when being close to a man she loves. ❛ naegi-kun ... it’s been a while since we last spent time together. ❜
He seems very agitated all of a sudden. "...Honoka. We need to hear your alibi. And...you should probably show everyone your power. Will you please?"
…SHE FELL SILENT.
She had nothing to SAY. She had no EXCUSE, either. No, she couldn’t run from it. She… She KNEW this would happen.
“…I’m SORRY.”
…She gave up.
“IT WAS ME. I’m so sorry…”
[can we just. have a drabble where there's like a ghostie kirigiri watching over naegi and although he's upset and angry she does her best to comfort him and clear his head]
IT ACHES FOR THEM to be robbed away the chance of feeling each other’s touch. From entwining fingers together to the usual strokes on her cheeks, she missed the ‘ absence ’ of touch. Surely he was aching inside his heart over the loss of someone he LOVED dearly — she can’t blame him. Watching over his life isn’t the same as being physically there to embrace Naegi. The warmth was gone, she felt nothing whenever being by his side. Her spirit is the only thing residing by his side as a way to comfort him. A gloved hand ( transparent as it was ) rested on his shoulder almost encouraging him from the afterlife to never give up hope. Should he grow upset, she’ll be there … somehow. Her body could do very little but offer a warm light that managed to make him believe ‘ ghosts were real ’. It wasn’t a ghost but a guardian; she was his guardian when she was alive and now … she’ll remain like this forever .
Once again, tears were quick to run through emerald hues as he thought about her death. The burden he’s carrying of her death … even she wouldn’t want that. But it was his BURDEN that brought her close to him ( she wouldn’t know which fate is worse ). Carrying it alone wouldn’t have been ideal since it teared him apart. She understood the grief of his classmates falling down and now her death was another for him to carry … ‘ Naegi-kun … ’ was all she could say, almost allowing the light around her to grow. A gloved finger passed through solid tears, attempting to wipe them away. But what might have surprised her was the next gesture: she shifted her gloved hand to rest along his heart. That managed to alarm him, immediately making him know SHE WAS THERE … BY HIS SIDE . Even her voice managed to make it through for him to hear her again. His own hand reached out to touch a transparent porcelain cheek of hers, relieved he could see her.
‘No matter what happens, you can’t give up hope Naegi-kun. I shall always be by your side … just as I am now.’

“I... heard about your little slip, dear. I’m terrified to admit it to you, dear, but... there was a very brief period, while you were still locked in the school, that I slipped too. F-for a couple of days, I was... in despair.”
Her head hangs low in shame.
“But you have to understand dear, I thought you were dead! I’d watched you die during one of the broadcasts! I didn’t know where your father and sister were so I believed I had no family left, no reason to keep going. But you also snapped me out of it again. I heard your voice and it brought me back to myself.”
“Bless, I made Naegi mad on stating the facts.”
