I always assumed the “through the kitchen” thing was at the hotels during Paul’s road trips? I can buy them going to a comic book convention, but the dressing up part? Not so much lol. But I guess they needed to hide sooo costumes lol.
This is where the show’s broke-ass ways did us a disservice. Those flashbacks all looked to be in the same (ugly-ass) room. But either Paul has a bizarre loyalty to a particular, ugly-ass hotel chain or else those scenes were supposed to be in his ugly-ass house. It’s confusing, because they were always wearing those matching robes, which does suggest a hotel. But I feel that the kitchen thing suggests a house. You can’t come in through the kitchen of a hotel? Or, even if you could, you would still have to go through the same lobby as you would going in through the front entrance in order to reach Paul’s room? I guess?
The comic convention thing bugs me because I care about stupid shit it implies that Sonny is a completely different kind of nerd than the kind of nerd Sonny actually is. Also, comic conventions aren’t a casual affair. Money wouldn’t be an issue for them, but those things involve hours and hours of standing around in lines and interacting with people and Sonny (apparently) taking pictures with people and drawing attention with his silly outfit, while Paul takes a significant risk of being recognized while attending a comic convention with his secret boyfriend. I suppose that Paul could have worn a mask the whole damn day, but... how uncomfortable to spend hours and hours under one of those lol.
