Saint Horus And The Dragon
(Pachoras, 4th centry)
the mongrel jargon used by egyptologists is so wretched. but ægyptian is truly unspeakable so it's not like there's an easy alternative.
the best thing to do would be to studiously use attested greek-coptic forms for what terms have such names, and then just write the rest as the pure consonants literated by the hieroglyphics. if one has to speak the latter aloud, then vocalise it on the spot, but never commit such a thing to writing unless one is seriously proposing a reconstruction, and give it an *.
you shouldn't be an egyptologist without at least a smattering of greek and coptic, and probably arabic as well, so you at least have a vague vibe of what the unspeakable tongue would have sounded like.
important to understand that for me "religion" means the thing the Ægyptians were always doing and any other religion is judged on how similar or compatible it is with the thing the Ægyptians were always doing
