Russian Ministry of Defense Confirms Tu22M3 Crash in Stavropol Territory: Crew Evacuated, Search Underway for Missing Pilot

Russian Tu-22M3 crashed in the Stavropol region after completing a combat mission while returning to its home airfield, the Defense Ministry said.

The pilots bailed out, three crew members were evacuated by a search-and-rescue group, and now a search is underway for one pilot.

There was no ammunition on board, the plane crashed in a deserted area. There is no destruction on the ground.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident was a technical malfunction.

Myanmar aircraft lands on its nose owing to a technical fault

The landing gear of the aircraft of the Myanmar Airlines failed to operate, knocking down the machine in an emergency landing. The pilot was lauded for the safe landing, which injured none of the 89 passengers, including seven members of the crew. Airbus Embraer 190 was arriving from the city of Yangon, one of the largest cities of Myanmar before the accident.
