M Is For… (Air) Mauritius Air Mauritius (MK/MAU) | Callsign: Air Mauritius | Fleet Size: 14 | Destinations: 22 | Hub: Port Louis (MRU) Set up in 1967 by Air France, the BOAC enterprise and the Government of Mauritius, the company initially operated international services in conjunction with Air France, Air India and British Airways before operating its own flights from 1972. In 1994 the airline became the first airline in the Southern Hemisphere to operate the A340-300, which formed the backbone of the long haul fleet for a number of years, later joined by a pair of A330-200s although they are currently being phased out as the A330-900NEO and A350-900 join the fleet over the coming years. In April 2020 the airline was placed under voluntary administration due to the economic impact of the Coronavirus making it impossible for the company to meet its financial obligations for the foreseeable future as it continues to operate. #AirMauritius #Mauritius #PortLouis #MRU #Airbus #A330 #A330NEO #AirbusLovers #29Aviation #Aviation #AvGeek #LHR #EGLL #Plane #PlanePorn #Pilot #AviationPhotography #PlaneLovers #MegaPlane #InstagramAviation #InstaPlane #Aviation4U #Airline #Aircraft #Heathrow #TJCaviationAZ #PlaneSpotting (at Heathrow Airport) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEHnN2On5uD/?igshid=1i9w4nrt0e719
