Maria was the first to be created, She was essentially a new born baby in the body of a woman. The creator, with his twisted obsession, tried to mold Maria into the puppet she was meant to be in the show. He tried to recreate her personality and perfect her smile, but Maria couldn't conform to his expectations. She was timid, scared and confused.
The "Problem" the Creator Saw in Her: The creator saw Maria as flawed—because she retained too much of her humanity, and her initial personality didn’t align with the "perfect puppet" he envisioned. In his mind, she was a failed prototype, and he was determined to “fix” her.
Guinea Pig for Future Creations: As his first experiment, Maria would have endured countless painful and gruesome experiments, all meant to “correct” her and perfect his methods. These experiments likely left her physically and mentally scarred, and while future creations may have benefited from these “improvements,” Maria was left broken.
Maria’s Worship of the Creator: Despite the horrors he inflicted on her, Maria views the creator as a god-like figure. She believes that he’s a genius, the one who brought her to life, and she worships him because he’s the source of her existence. Her worship is deeply rooted in her dependence on him—after all, he is the one who gave her this new identity, and she clings to the belief that her suffering serves a greater purpose.
The creator has conditioned Maria to believe that she is nothing without him. He is the one who made her, and he can unmake her if he chooses. She’s been programmed, through fear and abuse, to revere him as a godlike figure.
The creator likely plays on Maria’s worship and fear to keep her loyal. He dangles his approval over her, making her feel like she has to prove herself worthy of his attention.
He may tell Maria that one day she will be perfect, and all her suffering will be worth it. This keeps her clinging to the belief that her torment has a purpose.

In a state of madness, she grabbed a scalpel and carved a smile onto her face, in a desperate attempt to please him. From that moment on, she started to exhibit a more cold, heartless personality. She found joy in hurting others. Maria struggled with an identity crisis, torn between the memories of her past and the reality of her new existence. She often had flashbacks of her old self, causing even more confusion and inner turmoil.
