   “  I’d  choose  to  kill  Kuroh.  “  The  answer  comes  with  a  small  sigh.  “  Kuroh  has  finally  started  to  grow  into  his  own  beauty  ,  I  admit.  Though  I  fear  if  he  has  NOTHING  TO  FIGHT  FOR  that  his  demise  would  be  quite  sad  to  witness.  Like  crushing  an  already  wilted  flower.  But  if  he  has  his  reasons  to  wield  his  sword  ,  it  would  be  a  breathtaking  and  exciting  sight  for  our  final  curtain  call.  It  seems  it  is  always  our  destiny  to  cross  blades.  Furthermore  ,  Kuroh  is  most  likely  to  get  in  the  way.  It  was  already  in  the  plans  to  kill  him  or  nearly  do  so  to  lure  the  Silver  King  back.  “  Despite  how  his  heart  would  ache  ;  to  lose  all  ties  with  the  past  ,  to  lose  Kuroh.  “  Also  ,  Kuroh  would  probably  be  quite  upset  if  I  chose  to  SAVE  him  rather  than  save  a  child.  “  He  was  the  soft-hearted  sort  when  it  came  to  that  it  seemed.  His  lips  curve  slightly  into  a  sad  smile.  “  Someone  has  to  leave  first.  This  is  a  very  old  story.  There  is  no  other  version  of  this  story.  “  Yukari  quotes  quietly  ,  head  tilted  back  slightly.  “  It  would  have  to  be  Kuroh.  “

    Ayamachi  was  useful  ,  but  there  were  times  when  his  sword  wasn’t  the  most  ideal  choice  in  combat.  Unlike  other  blades  ,  it  was  intentionally  heavier  ,  meaning  is  was  stronger  and  more  forceful  ,  but  it  was  less  skilled  for  too  close  of  range.  That  ,  and  it  took  a  lot  for  Yukari  to  decide  to  draw  his  blade.  When  he  drew  it  ,  it  was  for  blood  to  be  spilt  and  heads  to  roll.  Instead  ,  in  this  brawl  ,  Yukari  had  decided  to  forgo  his  signature  sword  in  favor  of  martial  arts.  (  World  travel  garnered  lots  of  useful  skills.  )

   But  it  hadn’t  been  easy  for  Yukari  ,  and  that  delighted  him.  It  was  a  dance  of  violence  , of  exchanged  blows  and  blocks  ,  split  lips  and  blood  fueling  the  flames  of  battle.  It’d  been  a  long  time  since  anyone  could  actually  stand  for  more  than  a  few  minutes  at  most  against  the  beauty  angel  seeped  in  blood  spilt  in  chase  of  the  elusive  beauty  that  had  enchanted  him  so  long  ago.  Now  it  delights  him  when  they  have  these  fights  ,  where  his  blood  sings  and  he  has  to  really  focus  with  each  fight

   He  grins  when  he  slams  the  king  into  a  wall  ,  watches  the  building  shudder  and  struggle  to  stay  standing  as  cracks  shot  up  the  sides  and  dust  filled  the  air.  It  was  fierce  and  it  was  beautiful.  Brown  eyes  widened  as  his  leather  grip  tightened  to  ensure  his  prey  -  rival  wouldn’t  escape  from  his  clutches.  What  he  hadn’t  been  expecting  was  for  the  hand  that  reached  out  and  dragged  him  closer  by  the  back  of  his  head  until  lips  crashed  into  each  other.

   It’s  rough  and  messy  ,  too  forceful  when  lips  collide.  They  might  swell  later  ;  Yukari  can’t  find  it  in  himself  to  care  at  this  particular  moment.  It  tastes  of  blood  and  nicotine  and  pomegranate  lip  gloss.  It’s  aggressive  ,  a  power  play  in  its  own  right  ,  the  battlefield  moved  from  physical  blows  to  how  their  mouths  fit  against  each  other.  And  Yukari  answers.  He  presses  into  it  ,  his  grip  unrelenting  even  as  he  presses  himself  further  into  the  kiss.  He  might  like  beauty  ,  but  that  came  in  all  forms  and  flavors.  Even  this  chaotic  cacophony.  And  it  wasn’t  like  Yukari  was  going  to  turn  down  a  kiss  from  someone  as  eye-catchingly  attractive  as  the  red  king.

    He  grins  again  Mikoto’s  lips  and  then  dares  to  nip  at  the  king’s  lower  lip  with  his  teeth  ,  licking  away  the  blood  with  a  hum  of  satisfaction.

   Well  this  was  quite  a  surprise  even  to  the  JUNGLE  swordsman.  He  hadn’t  been  expecting  anything  from  anyone  other  than  those  in  JUNGLE  or  a  certain  dog  ;  he  wasn’t  one  to  make  a  big  deal  of  the  day.  But  evidently  word  had  gotten  out.  Not  that  he  minded  ,  it  wasn’t  a  secret.  Still  ,  this  was  a  rather  shocking  ,  albeit  pleasant  ,  surprise.

   “  You’re  full  of  more  surprises  than  I  thought.  “  Yukari  chuckles  as  he  takes  the  offered  bag.  “  Thank  you.  “  Regardless  of  what  was  within  the  bag  ,  the  gesture  and  thought  were  what  was  most  beautiful  and  significant  to  him.

   He  peers  into  the  bag  ;  curious  to  what  the  king  might  have  gifted  him.  It  wasn’t  every  day  that  such  things  happened  after  all.  Rather  quickly  curiosity  shatters  apart  into  delight  at  what  he  finds  ,  leather  gloved  hands  reaching  in  to  read  the  labels.  

   “  How  did  you  manage  to  get  this  ?  It’s  been sold  out  everywhere  !  “  Yukari  practically  glows  with  delight.  “  It  really  is  the  best.  I  was  just  about  to  run  out  too.  I’ve  never  tried  some  of  these  but  this  brand  is  phenomenal.  “  Not  that  the  other  probably  cares  about  that  ,  but  he’s  rather  certain  the  delight  in  his  voice  will  make  his  feelings  on  the  gift  quite  apparent.  “  So  generous  ,  really  thank  you.  “

( DARK MATTER STARTERS )

   Fallen  from  the  midnight  sky  ,  an  angel  in  the  snow.  It’s  a  line  of  poetry  that  floats  to  Yukari  as  he  struggles  through  the  haze  to  consciousness.  But  the  rain  or  night  chill  he  expects  to  wake  to  doesn’t  ever  sink  its  fangs  into  him.  Instead  ,  there  is  only  warmth  that  makes  waking  all  the  more  difficult.  That  ,  and  the  surprisingly  comfortable  cushioning  that  he  was  currently  laying  on.  Yet  the  dampness  from  the  rain  he  did  remember  clung  to  his  hair  ,  assuring  the  swordsman  that  he  hadn’t  been  unconscious  for  too  long.  An  hour  at  most.

   The  deeper  voice  rumbles  in  his  ears  and  Yukari  pushes  himself  upwards  to  see  that  the  red  king  is  currently  looking  at  him.  For  a  brute  that  slept  so  often  ,  it  seemed  Mikoto  was  smarter  than  expected  of  a  destructive  beast.  Yukari  manages  a  slight  exhale  with  a  smile.  Well  he  would  know  ,  wouldn’t  he  ?  Took  one  to  know  one.  For  all  Yukari’s  talk  of  beauty  ,  for  the  flamboyance  well  backed  be  dangerous  ,  ruthless  skill  ,  Yukari  can  remember  how  Nagare  once  called  him  a  beast  ,  an  animal  himself.  It  hadn’t  been  wrong.  At  times  it  still  wasn’t.

   “  How  generous.  “  Yukari  manages  ,  wincing  as  he  pushes  himself  to  sit  up  ,  back  resting  against  the  wall.  It’d  been  a  long  time  since  any  sort  of  physical  combat  had  left  him  aching  -  or  that  he’d  been  caught  off  guard  enough  to  be  tranquilized  of  all  things.  Although  it  hadn’t  been  strong  enough  to  stop  the  J-rank  from  escaping  through  the  government’s  fingers  as  JUNGLE  always  seemed  to  do.  Never  caught  ,  or  if  caught  ,  never  for  long.  Least  of  all  the  beauty  angel  with  blood-soaked  wings.

   Still  .  .  .  He  knew  some  of  Homra  was  softer  than  others.  But  this  ?  “  Why  ?  “  Yukari  can’t  help  asking  towards  the  king  ,  even  when  his  head  aches.  The  swordsman  knows  better  than  to  push  himself  too  hard  too  fast.  He’d  at  least  rest  a  while  longer.  “  You  could  have  just  left  me  there.  Or  handed  me  over.  “  Curiosity  ignites .as  he  watches  the  Red  King  like  an  animal  that  has  encountered  something  else  it  does  not  know.  It’s  certainly  shifted  his  perceptions  to  a  certain  point.  

   Gingerbread  colored  eyes  shift  slightly  ,  almost  imperceivably  to  see  a  familiar  color  of  green  outside  the  window.  Kotosaka  was  often  with  Yukari  ,  it  made  sense  he’d  be  here  now.  But  his  attention  is  focused  to  the  lion  for  now  ,  gloved  hands  pushing  back  his  damp  locks  to  move  them  out  of  his  face.  “  .  .  .  Thank  you.  “  He  adds.  Allies  or  not  ,  Yukari  is  not  one  for  being  impolite  unless  necessity  requires  such.

   Kotosaka  sat  perched  on  the  back  of  a  chair  ,  head  tilted  to  the  side  as  he  examined  the  king.  Or  rather  ,  the  king  behind  Kotosaka’s  gaze  was  examining  the  king.  This  development  was  unexpected.  

   “  Third  and  Red  King  Mikoto  Suoh.  Turning  a  blind  eye  does  not  make  matters  disappear.  “  Nagare  spoke  finally  ,  his  voice  emotionless  and  informative.  It  seemed  at  least  the  king  had  realized  JUNGLE  was  keeping  an  eye  on  them.  Lions  recognize  vultures  and  crows  ;  the  leader  was  not  so  unobservant  as  it  might  initially  be  assumed  from  lazy  disposition.

    Kotosaka’s  form  straightened  as  Nagare  spoke  more  directly  towards  the  king.  “  JUNGLE  has  no  issues  in  calculating  leaving  Homra  out  of  the  picture.  Do  not  interfere  in  our  plans  and  you  can  be  left  alone  in  peace.  No  doubt  the  Silver  King  will  try  to  ally  themselves  with  you.  That  would  be  rather  unfortunate  should  it  occur.  But  JUNGLE  can  handle  it  ,  Homra  however  will  not  see  peace.  “  Nagare  continues  with  the  same  emotionless  tone.  Not  bragging  , but  not  indifferent  either.  “  If  you  seek  peace  for  you  and  your  clan  ,  simply  sit  back  and  enjoy  the  show  as  JUNGLE  ushers  in  a  new  era  for  humanity  and  the  world.  “  

   Kotosaka  shifts  his  wings  as  Nagare  watched  through  his  eyes  how  the  king  responded.  “  Will  you  comply  ?  “

( DUSTY TOYBOX STARTERS )

   Surprise  manifested  on  Yukari’s  face  at  the  response  that  he  had  gained  from  the  red  king.  But  it  would  be  a  lie  to  try  to  advert  his  attention  from  the  prickles  of  excitement  that  had  sparked  in  his  chest.  It  felt  similar  to  the  crackle  of  electricity  -  not  yet  revealed  but  humming  in  the  air.  An  excitement  that  swelled  like  gas  waiting  for  a  spark  of  fire  to  explore.  Everyone  knew  of  the  destructive  power  oh  the  red  king.  

    “  My  ,  it  seems  that  the  slumbering  lion  might  not  just  be  all  looks  after  all.  “  He  grins  ,  a  leather  gloved  hand  raising  to  his  chin  and  lips  with  poised  thought.  Glossy  lips  curve  into  a  smile  as  his  relaxed  form  faces  the  king.  “  Such  an  invitation  .  .  .  It’d  be  rude  to  reject.  “

   In  a  blink  of  an  eye  ,  Yukari  had  closed  more  than  half  the  distance  ,  daring  to  get  within  range  of  the  king  without  a  drop  of  fear.  Perhaps  this  king  was  like  a  geode.  Course  and  grey  on  the  outside  ,  but  once  you  cracked  it  open  ,  there  would  be  something  dazzling  inside. It  was  just  a  matter  of  getting  there.  Yukari  was  in  no  rush  ;  he  could  try  many  tactics  to  pry  that  beauty  to  the  surface  for  him  to  admire.

   “  I  do  hope  you’ll  show  me  something  beautiful.  Issuing  a  statement  like  that.  “  Yukari’s  eyes  brighten  at  the  idea  of  a  challenge.  “  I’ll  make  sure  to  make  you  show  me  it.  “  One  way  or  another.
