Alfred frowned, erasing the note again. He didn't have much time left before his teacher sent someone to fetch him from the boy's bathroom, but he couldn't figure out what to write!
The American sighed, tapping his pencil against the ledge underneath the room-long mirror. If he looked up, he would've seen a fustrated blonde with glasses sitting askew on his nose. When he actually looked up, he also saw a neater clone of himself reading the note over his shoulder, tsking at the poor grammer and cheesy lines.
"Hey! Stop that!" Alfred complained, hiding the slightly torn paper.
"You're writing to Ludwig again, Al?" Matthew asked, unimpressed. The Canadian grabbed the paper and started writing on it with a red pen he kept in his pocket. His half-brother's spluttering protests fell on ignoring ears until Matthew handed the now marked up confession.
"Finsish writing your letter in class, we're already late." Alfred nodded in response, reading over the letter as the returned to class. His brother's helpful red scrawl was all across the page, with tips on how to actually write good, though still slightly cheesy lines, along with minor spelling edits and completely deleted sentences. The American blinked, confused, then looked up at his editor.
"How the hell did you do this? You're forever alone!"
"I'm not forever alone! And Papa showed me how." Matthew said, offended. Their shared father, Francis, was a baker who was married to one Arthurine nee Kirkland. Matthew's biological mother wasn't spoken of, but the quiet boy always felt that his adopted mother was nicer than his absent one.
"You totally are, man!" Alfred goaded as they walked into Mr. Vargas' art class. The cheerful man was helping a Romanian boy with his charcoal drawing but stood up when the boys entered.
"Took you guys long enough! Get to your table and start!" The Italian bellowed, glancing behind the two at the re-opened door. His grumpy grandson was standing there, holding a note from another teacher. "Lovi!"
The half-brothers sat next to each other at the four person table. Across from them was Kiku Honda, one of Alfred's closest friends and Feliciano Vargas, who ran off to to hug his brother. Kiku glanced over when his bubbly friend left, but didn't say anything.
"Hey Kiku?" Alfred asked, prodding the Japanese boy's hair with his charcoal stick.
"Yes, Alfred-san?" The black-haired teen shook the charcoal dust out of his hair, looking slightly more fustrated when the black specks scattered across his black and white cheery blossom.
"What does Ludwig like?" The messy-haired blonde asked, failing at his attempt to seem casual. Matthew snickered, trying his hardest to not ruin his charcoal moose. The smitten American's messy picture of George Washington fluttered to the ground with the new love letter when Alfred starting hitting his brother.
Kiku gathered Alfred's papers, thinking. "I believe he will like this."
"Hey, give that back!"Alfred snatched the note away, then read it over one more time. "Do you really think so?"
"Hai."
"Alright, so I'll pass it to him!" The bespeacled boy decided, folding it and scrawling "For Ludwig" on the front. He signed his name on the inside in Hancock sized letters, and handed it to Matthew. The Canadian leaned over to the Romanian who was struggling earlier and dropped it on the rough drawing of Vladimir's Bulgarian friend. Vlad glanced at the name on the front, scanned the room and passed it to the aristocratic Austrian next to him.
Roderich passed it to the next table where Antonio nabbed it, grinning, and finally passed it to Ludwig. Alfred watched in anticipation while his German crush read the note. Ludwig's fae turned red as he finished the note.
Dear Ludwig,
I've liked you for a while, but I wasn't sure if you'd like me back, or it you were even gay. But when you came out last month, I knew I had to make my move. Will you go out with me?
From,
Alfred F. Bonnefoy
The muscular blonde pulled out a piece of paper from his folder while the Spainard next to him stole the note and read it. Antonio laughed, then started chatting with Ludwig, who was hastily writing a reply.
After what was only a few minutes but felt like hours, Antonio took Ludwig's now finished note and passed it to Roderich. The Austrian Handed it to Vladimir, who gave it to Matthew who finally delivered it to the nervous Alfred. The American opened it, and read the reply.
Alfred, I'd love to go out with you. Can we discuss where we'd go after school?
Ludwig
Matthew, reading over Alfred's shoulder again, congradulated him. The American brother had a wide grin and an excited pair of eyes. Then, he realized something.
"Now I have to wait for the rest of the day to talk to him!"
