Akhekhmon Level: Mega/Ultimate Type: Holy Beast/Bird Dragon Attribute: Virus Field: Wind Guardians/Nightmare Soldiers A digimon that serves as the steed for certain God Man digimon. It displays the data of bird, beast and dragon digimon, with the versatility and power to match. Under the employ of other digimon it is steadfast and calm, but on it's own it is wild and fearsome; attacking dark digimon with an overwhelming fury. Red Dusk summons a raging sandstorm that blots out all light. The sand can erode metal and the ensuing night bolsters it's own powers of darkness. It's attacks are imbued with a water from the dawn of time; embodying aspects of the primordial darkness. Nu-tide Fountain gushes forth a powerful torrent of water from it's mouth to snipe even far targets, whilst Nu-squall Talon attacks with water soaked claws. Finally got around to this meme from last month -- thank you all for your suggestions, they were fun! I ended up doubling the amount because I love drawing creature designs, and these were fun to flex with Set's transformation magic.

The 6 wild animal forms included the Aardvark, Cape Hare, Rockhopper Penguin, Horned Adder, Striped Hyena, and Orca (Killer Whale).

The last two I ended doing mythical creatures, and I also used it as a opportunity to revisit a couple that I plan to add to DEITIES Project as divine creatures -- the Amphisbaena and the Akhekh. More information about them at a later time!

Myth Stuff - Akhekh

The first of this month's theme! Gryphons are a very, very old staple of humanity's collective menagerie, going hand in hand with other sorts of heraldic or composite beasts. These have decorated the walls and tombs of Western Civilization since it was out of the cradle, and their diversity is a monument to how ingrained they are in our heads.

General Information:

Akhekh - The sacred beast of Set, along with the Typhonic Beast. Often confused with dragons and gryphons, but is neither, like the composite beasts of the early Fertile Crescent. Look a bit like a cougar-sized jaguar with the head of an eagle, a small comb, a single brown stripe, and three uraei (though these are decorative and only given to domesticated akhekh. Live on cliffs and trees near rivers, where they jump on prey drinking or swoop to catch fish. Used to be kept by the Pharaoh, as symbols of his might, but when worship of Set was diminished, they were thrown out as well. Most alive are now feral, but projects exist to re-domesticate them in Egypt. Better at climbing and diving than sustained flight. Can swim well. Also known as the Axex.

Notes:

Okay, starting off with one of the oldest known named ones. I figured the akhekh and axex were the same thing, but if that turns out to be an enormous coincidence then I owe everyone one slap. With the information provided by the amazing person at A Book of Creatures, namely it's association with water, Set, and the Pharaoh, I was able to cobble together a beast where I had only known it's name and appearance beforehand. Another reason I wanted to redo the gryphons and such again was because there was so little variety and specificity in their bodies. To combat this, each creature's body and how it moves and uses it in day-to-day life will be the focus in these.
