Ala-Archa nature reserve in the vicinity of Bishkek Ala-Archa, Kyrgyzstan One of the most visited places in Kyrgyzstan is the Ala-Archa nature reserve. It is located 30 km from Bishkek on an area of 20 thousand hectares, where there is absolutely everything: mountains, rivers, coniferous forests growing on the slopes of the mountains. Streams of melt water flow down the slopes from the glaciers, which then turn into the Ala-Archa River. In 1976, in the Ala-Archa gorge, the Kyrgyz state park Ala-Archa was created to preserve endangered rare species of animals, plants and the development of tourism and mountaineering. One of the main attractions of the reserve is the unique fauna. Here you can see a snow leopard listed in the Red Book, as well as a rare blue bird, which the Kyrgyz call the “bird of happiness” high in the gorge. Many other amazing representatives of flora and fauna live on the territory of the reserve, where hunting is strictly prohibited. Another unique feature of the reserve is the climbers' camp, located at an altitude of 2000 m above sea level. It is on the territory of the reserve that such famous mountain peaks as Semyonov-Tyan-Shansky peak (4875 m) and Korona peak (4860 m) are located. Semyonov-Tyan-Shanskiy Peak is the highest point of the entire ridge.
