Reassurances | S & A
This whole Caradoc situation had really gotten under Sirius’ skin, more than he was willing to admit to just about everyone. He kept up his usual cool demeanor, still quick with a joke or a smile, but there was an anxiety growing inside of him that seemed only to get worse as the days wore on and there was still no real news. There were questions that he needed answers to, reassurances, and there were only a couple of people who could likely give them. Moody was, at least in Sirius’ opinion, somewhat more approachable and easier to find than Dumbledore so that’s where Sirius was finally headed.
He’d been forewarned by Remus about the various traps and hexes set up around Order headquarters for good measure to avoid most of them and get to Moody’s office in relatively short order with only a few minor mishaps. They were vague annoyances that didn’t really affect the main one that seemed to be crawling under Sirius’ skin. It was natural to worry, to be afraid for his friends, but that didn’t mean he had to go in there like a mess. He respected Moody a great deal and furthermore wanted the man’s respect so it wouldn’t do to go in there seeming like a frightened child. Sirius paused outside the older wizard’s door for a moment, squared his shoulders, took a deep breath, then knocked.
“I’m fairly sure you’re always working so don’t pretend you’re not there.” Sirius called through the door, rather jovially. He would mask his anxiety as best he could and try to keep this conversation from going too much off the rails while still, hopefully, getting the answers he needed.
