Albert’s Decision

“Son, are you actually choosing the Coral Peacocks out of all the magic knight squads? You can join any of them; even the Golden Dawn has offered you a spot!” Alphonso reached for Albert’s shoulder as he walked ahead of him, but Albert just brushed it off.
“It’s by no means a bad squad, not like the Black Bulls. So what’s the problem, father?” He turned around to face him, his blue eyes barely holding back a glare.
“The past several years, that squad’s always made the lower half of the rankings. Well, I did not raise any child who does not go above and beyond at any chance they get. I cannot accept this.” Alphonso folded his arms at Albert.
“Father, you can’t stop me. Which squad I join is ultimately my choice, as long as the captain lets me. And Unsworth is more than happy to accept me.”
Alphonso sighed, and moved to the table beside him. He sat down and patted the chair next to him. Albert reluctantly obliged. “Be honest with me, please. Are you joining because you want the lack of restrictions? The freedom she’ll supposedly give you? To...go after Clears?” He pursed his lips.
Albert sighed and shut his eyes. “Yes,” he admitted.
“Please, son, stop this notion of avenging Alaina. The magic knights will find Clears and bring them to justice.”
“Yes.” Albert stood up. “I will find Cameron and bring them to justice after I join the magic knights.” He exited the room, and Alphonso gripped his seat, unable to stop worrying about his remaining child.
