@alchemist-of-blight continued from here.
The first thing El noticed after she got over the stumble was the...’mouth.’ It had to be a mouth, right? Yet it reminded her of a hole, a deep cavernous hole edged in sharp teeth and dripping a strange, glowing orange fluid.
Blinking, the child glanced up. Those eyes burned the same color as the fluid. Almost as orange as the ever-grinning pumpkin that stood in front of one of these houses. Strange clothes garbed this even stranger man. He looked like he wore a potato sack, one of those big ones that Hop liked to buy in bulk ‘just in case.’ Come to think of it, his spine hunched over like one of those potato bags, too...
Yet despite his appearance, he never touched her. Instead, he backed away as if he were sorry. It confused El. People that looked like this were usually killers, weren’t they?
Of course, it was then she noticed the cane. Her bald head tilted to the side. Did he need help walking? Was that why his back looked like a potato sack?
