You personally cannot do something about everything wrong.

There are people working on fighting every terrible thing that is happening in our country right now.

If you want to get involved, you need to choose an issue.

Pick one thing you want to fight, and then join with the people who are focusing on that thing. Is it trans rights? Ok, that's your focus. Is it mass deportation? Great, pick that. Is it something else? There are people who's focus is on it, and you can join them. But you can't fight a war on all fronts, all you will do is burn yourself out while making almost no project on any front.

If you can't join specific causes, supporting the ALCU through sharing their posts or a monetary donation or anything. They're fighting a lot of these legal battles for people's rights.

And remember to take regular news breaks (2 days is great) to recharge and avoid burn-out.

Supreme Court Takes Cases of People Fired for Being LGBTQ

Can a business fire someone because they’re LGBTQ? The Supreme Court will soon tell us.

I don’t have a good feeling about this. This will endanger job prospects of the LGBTQ+ community.

The stakes here are huge. If federal law says it’s fine to fire someone because she’s lesbian or transgender, other federal civil rights laws may well not protect LGBTQ people, either. The federal education anti-discrimination law may not stop schools from harassing transgender students. The Federal Housing Act may not stop landlords from evicting same-sex couples. And the Affordable Care Act may not prevent health care providers from turning away transgender people. In fact, such a ruling could lead to the very “erasing” of transgender people from civil rights laws that the Trump Administration is reported to have been considering last fall.

Judge extends temporary reprieve for Iraqis facing deportation

On Thursday night, a federal judge in Detroit extended an order that puts a temporary hold on the U.S. government’s threat to deport some Iraqi nationals.

On Thursday night, a federal judge in Detroit extended an order that puts a temporary hold on the U.S. government’s threat to deport some Iraqi nationals.

The Trump administration struck a deal with Iraq’s government earlier this year.

Since then, it’s moved quickly to start deporting up to 1,400 Iraqi nationals with criminal records.

The American Civil Liberties Union sued to stop that. The ACLU argues that some of those people face persecution or death in Iraq, and should at least get a chance to make that case in immigration court.

On June 23, Judge Mark Goldsmith put a two-week hold on deporting more than 100 Iraqi nationals living in Michigan. They had been rounded up by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions in the Detroit area earlier that month.

Goldsmith later expanded it to cover all Iraqis facing deportation nationwide. Now he’s extended that temporary restraining order until at least July 24.
