I don’t believe in soulmates. I’m serious. And no, these aren’t just the bitter words of an unmarried woman. Trust me, I can’t wait to get married, but I’m not waiting around for “my soulmate.” But Michelle, what about all those movies where the girl and they guy find “the one?” THE LIE Honestly, I feel lied to. My whole life I have been told by society that I just need to find my “soulmate” — the one that was “created for me” and whom I will find when the stars align just perfectly. Far too common are the romantic movies where the distressed young woman searches longingly for her soulmate — that one, perfect person that fits into your life like the last missing puzzle piece. The “one” that if there were millions of people around you, you would know, without a doubt, that they were your soulmate. Sure, this is a novel and romantic idea, that there is one man out there waiting for me, and we are to live together, happily ever after as… well, you know… soulmates. I don’t believe in soulmates; what I do believe in is true love. WHAT IS LOVE? Marriage is a vocation that involves loving the other. Love involves choice. Love involves suffering. Love involves choosing to love an imperfect person. And it’s a choice we make daily, again and again and again. I think our commitment to loving someone daily and choosing them daily makes them the one. The freedom to choose someone daily is far more romantic to me than the notion of a soulmate who you’re bound to love no matter what. In the free choice of the will there is a real freedom and real love. This is beautifully exemplified when a spouse dies and the other remarries. The other spouse, though in pain because of their loss, is often times able to love another again. They are choosing to love again. This is also beautifully displayed when a couple feels like they have fallen out of love. Their commitment to continue to chose each other despite their emotion, is in fact romantic! LOVE ISN’T EASY When we choose to get married we are marrying someone who is imperfect and has many flaws. I have seen many relationships fail because one or both of the partners puts the other on a pedestal or holds them to an unrealistic, perfectionist ideal. “This is my soulmate. This should be easy! We are perfect for eachother.” When we have this mentality we aren’t living in reality. Relationships are hard, and from what I hear, marriage is hard too. I think we have idolised the idea of soulmates because it makes marriage, love and dating look easy. I have seen far too many couples shocked when they find that relationships are hard work and that love isn’t easy. When we look to the ultimate example of love, Jesus on the cross, we see that love isn’t easy at all, beautiful yes, but ultimately it is a choice. The decision to love someone is a difficult one. And it’s a choice we have to make daily, in suffering and in joy.

I'd cut this under a Read More but I'm on my phone xD It feels weird not talking to him before I sleep, but I stayed up till 7 am yesterday, and I know if I talk to him at all, I'm never going to sleep xD hnnngh.
Lol so I look cute kinda and the guy I like doesn’t even care. Jackass.
This is a long post of me answering questions and rambling so yeah
OKAY SO I have three of these so I'm going to do them all at once.
1) Always post the rules 2) Answer the questions from the person who tagged you and then write 11 new ones. 3) Tag 11 people and link them to the post. 4) Actually tell them you tagged them.
1) What are your favorite bands/musicians? I love Taylor Swift :D And I'm expanding my taste in specific bands, but from my Pandora I know I also like Ed Sheeran, A Fine Frenzy, OneRepublic, Paramore, Birdy, Carrie Underwood, 3 Doors Down, Three Days Grace, and others :3 I see now it says favorite so let's just go with Taylor and I'm rambling MOVING ON.
2) If you were in the Military, what would you want to do? Is being a nurse or a doctor count as being in the military? I hope so because it's the only thing I'd want to do is help heal our injured soldiers.
3) What is your favorite US state and why? Pssssh Wisconsin because it's my home state. It's a beautiful state with all four seasons and I just love it xD
4) Have you visited any foreign countries? If so, which? I've been to the Philippines twice, technically China and Japan for getting to the Philippines, Hungary and Serbia, and technically Switzerland to get to Hungary
5) Star Wars or Harry Potter? HARRY POTTER
6) What is your favorite video game, if any? World of Warcraft lol
7) What was the most powerful book you’ve ever read? Most powerful book... that's hard... probably The Fault in Our Stars. It was the first book I read after like a reading hiatus, and it showed me what makes a book... good. The excellent writing, the ideas in the book that made me question my own life... it helped me relove books in a whole new way.
8) If any, what sport(s) do you do? Martial arts, specifically karate & tae kwon do
9) What is your favorite field of study? (If you hate all of them, which one makes you the least miserable?) This is a hard question Dx I love English, I love choir, history & social studies intrigue me... I don't know. Dx
10) Amp or Monster? NEITHER ENERGY DRINKS LIKE THAT ARE AWFUL FOR YOU DON'T DO IT
11) What is your favorite piece of technology? I'm caught between my phone and my laptop. Probably my smartphone though because I lived (barely) without my laptop... but if I had just my laptop and no phone, no. xD
Set #2
1. What state/country are you from? What do you like and dislike about where you live? I'm from Wisconsin. I really do love all of the country and getting to experience all of the seasons, having access to a mix of rural and urban life. I just don't enjoy how cold it can get xD
2. Right or Left brained? BOTH BRAINED. I like to say both. xD I don't value creativity or logic over one another and I don't feel a more specific talent over either.
3. Favorite season and why? I love all of the seasons for different reasons, but I'd say spring because it's like the morning of the seasons, and morning is when I feel the best provided I got enough sleep the night before
4. Do you believe in marriage equality for all and why or why not? I'm conflicted on the issue and don't harass me about it next question please
5. Favorite blogger? Why? Uhm. I have no specific favorite because I'm never on Tumblr enough to have one favorite. xD
6. Do you have a good relationship with your parents? Why do you or do you not? My parents think I do, but I honestly don't. I don't feel like I do. I've never told my parents anything personal about me... ever.
7. Who’s your best friend and why? David because we can text all day about everything, he helps challenge me intellectually and definitely knows how to make me feel better, he's ALWAYS there for me, and helps keep me centered and balanced xD
8. 10 favorite songs into a playlist? I CAN'T PICK TEN I CAN BARELY ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS. Uhm. "Oceans" by Hillsong United, Taylor Swift songs, OneRepublic songs. I don't know xD
9. Favorite aspect of yourself? How much I resemble a fire. Bright, lively, warm
10. What is the greatest tragedy you have experienced personally? Probably the suicide of a classmate of mine freshman year. There was another one this past year, but the one freshman year hit closer to home for me.
11. What is your biggest pet peeve and why? I hate saying pet peeves because I probably do the same thing and I don't like being hypocritical xD I guess people being hypocritical is my pet peeve, then xD
