Aldabra Giant Tortoises are probably my favorite reptile. They're also my dream pet.
“Tootie is the sweetest! Our female Aldabra tortoise LOVES attention from her human friends. In fact, she loves it so much that she "comes running" to her caretakers, just to get a few neck scratches. Of course, we always stop for at least a moment to give her a little love.”

Aldabra tortoise Aldabrachelys gigantea Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens Los Angeles California May be the longest-lived species on Earth 2nd largest species of tortoise after the Galapagos Islands, comprises the largest population of tortoises. Living tractors, they bulldoze down trees, clearing pathways for other animals. During courtship the male shows strength by hitting his shell into the female a dozen times then make a deep trumpeting call. Romantic, no? Charles Darwin successfully petitioned for the protection of these Indian ocean animals. ICUN lists them currently as Vulnerable. #aldabratortoise #aldabrachelysgigantea #beautiful #herbivore #eatlandcrabs #eatothertortoises #thisoneisabout20yearsold #losangeleszooandbotanicalgardens #losangeleszoo #lazoo #lauraquick #reptile #elephantilelegs #manydifferentterrains https://www.instagram.com/p/B4G9kgHnoMy/?igshid=1hobd7f9fs1rq

Two giant Aldabra tortoises, Mary & Eliza, just found a forever home at Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo 🐢💚 They’ll star in a new “Wild Encounters” exhibit where visitors may one day feed and pet them.
