[ REVIEW AND REVISE ] - The White Heron cup is mere hours away, but that still leaves plenty of time to reconsider your approach. Ask a friend for a second opinion, or drag a passerby into an impromptu rehearsal.
"You seem light on your feet!"
Alear's hand sits comfortably in his as she laughs, practicing the steps she'd attempted to learn weeks ago. It turns out that she's not that great at it, but it doesn't matter-- she's here for the fun, not the victory. Briefly, she wonders if it's the same for him, judging by the way he carries himself as he had been flitting in and out of the crowds.
"What's your name? I'm Alear! Oh-!" It's one misstep that leads her to nearly stepping on his foot, adjusting quickly enough to only apply a hint of pressure instead of gouging him. "S-sorry... I'm new to all of this."
It’s a little early to be on a first name basis - he hasn’t even stolen a kiss yet!
Alear is cute though, so he decides to allow it, the lilt of his voice teasing as he readjusts their position. “Hmmm…my name? That’ll cost you another dance.” The dance they’re doing is a pretty simple one, which means that Alear didn’t grow up with these dances like any noble would have. The information isn’t enough to wipe the smile he’s crafted, chuckling at the scuff she’s left on expensive leather. “Don’t worry about your feet. Trust me, any person in this room would be lucky to have you step on them for a dance.”
He isn’t even lying! The two-toned jewels of her attention fractures his focus. He’s always been more fond of blue over red, but Alear almost makes him reconsider.
Swaying to the tempo of the next dance, he laughs each time she steps forward instead of back. “Maybe I should let you lead, would that be more comfortable for you? The name’s Sylvain, by the way. Does that earn me a little more of your time? Or will this be better?” A hyacinth for a lily is an odd bargaining chip for sure, but Sylvain has arguably done more with less.
