I’ve been torn in between the undecipherable lines of reality and fantasy. I wanted to write about us when we were all at our best – when the horizon stretched long before us with a welcoming violet-hazel sunrise, and the songs were still happy and the wind caught our hair in fits of freedom. I’m starting to think, however, that those times were only reflections of the truth and that perhaps, we’ve never truly been at our best and we are just as discontent now as we were before. The thing is I’ve always turned to inked words when my sun’s been eclipsed, and the wind is a dry, ominous whisper and the songs are melancholy and haunting. I write today because I feel broken. We feel broken. All I ask is that whatever benevolent force is behind the sun and the wind and the song, that it grant me the medium by which to tell our story.
