The secret her father had kept for so long came to light on a normal day. Alicent had been on her way to pray when something in the sky caught her eye, she couldn't say why even to this day, but she followed after it as if attracted by a siren song. She made it to the dragon pit when she watched the loveliest dragon she had ever seen land and it was as if something she didn't know she was missing fell into place.

From there Otto had to admit her mother, her real mother was Saera Targaryen, she gave birth to her while she was hidden in Old Town, Otto Hightower had been the father and his wife swore to raise her as her own and she had. The King had been angry when he heard this-- that made Alicent a royal, something she still had a hard time coming to terms with and now a dragon rider. After a good week of just sitting near Nagini and talking to her, making sure she wasn't going to eat her-- she was finally ready for her first flight.

"My Valyrian isn't very good-- but I think I know enough for a short flight" her hand reached out, softly petting her mount's neck as she had been for the last week. It was an odd feeling, the affection she held for her dragon.

"I finally got the money wired to Harwin, so he'll likely be beating down our door anytime now" Alicent plopped down next to her now fiancé on the couch, her engagement ring now happily back in place on her finger, it had been a long two days she had to be without it. She admired it for a moment in the low light of their new Livingroom, with a lot of help they were finally unpacked and their new furniture had been delivered and assembled that morning.

"I was thinking I could go with you to the gym a couple days a week, sale the story that we are trying to find common ground and bond before the wedding?"

"I fear at this rate your sister will never choose a husband" Alicent looked to her friend as she readied herself for a ride. She had been frightened at first, the heights and putting her trust in Vermithor-- but with time and practice came peace and now she used it as a means to escape her father's ire for a few hours a day. On this day she intended to take the Princess with her, sitting on her stool, she laced her riding boots, a task that had once felt so forgin to her, now came second natured.

"She made one of the Lannistair twins cry, I assume you can guess which one" her smile betrayed her, it had been quite amusing to be sure, seeing a lion flee with his tail between his legs.

"I think red might be more appropriate for your crowning" Alicent stood in Rhaenyra's chambers like she had as a girl, looking over fabrics and holding them up to her. Both recently widowed and having remained close over the years no one thought twice about how much time they spent alone. It hadn't been easy to bring peace to their sons, but eventually it was met and Aegon was just happy he did not have to be king. The betrothal of Helaena and Jace was finalized and now she was looking to find wives for her sons as they had some time before Luc would need one.

"Then again they may look to you to still be in mourning" she frowned as she looked at the pile of black fabrics, she personally wished to celebrate and would dawn whatever color Rhaenyra chose to crown her in. She was so proud of her for how well she was holding up, she wished to ease her burden as much as she could though.

There was a fear in Alicent she had not known before this day, her father had always been a cold man, but she saw a hatred for her in his eyes she had never seen before. She had known that rejecting his demands that she seduce the King would not go over well, but she worried for her future now and how he was in talks with the Lannister's as well as the Starks, she knew he would send her far away as punishment it mattered not to whom she was married or if she was happy. She approached Rhaenyra with her fears and the princess and she plotted a way for her to stay at her side and be in a happy marriage if nothing else, one where she would be safe.

She need only ask the possible groom if he would consent to helping her. So here she stood, off to the side of the training grounds looking out of place and worried, waiting for Harwin to be alone for a moment and when she saw her chance she approached him. "Ser Strong-- may I have a moment of your time?" Alicent asked, carefully walking towards him.

It was as terrifying as it was thrilling, leaving her father and Kings Landing behind. She knew it wasn't forever, Rhaenyra made it clear she was to return when she was Queen, she would need her hand. Alicent promised she would come when called and with that she took Valerian's hand and the two took off into the night and towards the dragonpit, away from all she had known and at the side of the man she would marry.

"So Rhaenyra paid off the guards on that hall and locked my father in his room?" Alicent wished to be very clear on what happened as she tried not to laugh at how insane it was that the two of them had to run off to be together, then again-- it was her father they were talking about. By the time she let him out of his room-- they would be nearly back to her new home.

She was anxious about riding his mount, but she trusted Valerian not to let her die. In her bones she knew he would always keep her safe.

"How would I look as a blonde?" Alicent asked as she looked up at her girlfriend, her head resting in her lap while she scrolled through her phone. She had been mulling over a change in her appearance for a while, but had yet to make any decisions or an appointment. She valued Laena's opinion above all others, so she asked her before even Rhaenyra on most things. Leaning up a bit she laid her phone on the coffee table before getting comfortable once more, enjoying a rare day where they could just stay in and relax, no social engagements, work or family drama to worry over.

“Come now, dearest-- there are so many friendly faces begging for you to ask them to dance” Alicent teased as she let her hand meet his, slowly circling one another. “I’m glad you asked me though, I fear I stood still too long and caught the eye of a Lannister” she had been hoping to see him that night though, she always did enjoy his company. “In case I forget-- you look very handsome tonight.”
