Today I made a proper maquette of the mechanism we were going for as it hasn't been made before. It helped visualise the size and movement of the automaton. This is a necessary step to ensure correct measurements are taken.

I've straightened out the motor box, which was important. In the future, I'll try to ensure its done right the first time or fixed right away.

Microswitches were also attached. I carved one of the books, which proved time-consuming. Adam proposed that I glue the book first, then carve it out afterwards instead.

After researching wiring, it seemed rather tricky and I'm still not sure how it works. Spent a lot of time looking through tutorials and making sure all our components matched. Turned out we needed and on/off/on the switch. 

Making quick sketches for more complicated ideas made explaining them to team much easier. 

Splitting tasks and coming up with an action plan for the next day worked well. This allowed us to start working right away when we came in, without wondering what to do next. It made me feel more motivated and organised.

Developing sketches further for a clear idea. Getting the measurements right and double-checking them was important.

We needed to sort of the carriage and the guide today. Initially, the carriage was going to be a square hollow brass rod soldered to a nut,  but while looking at off cuts in the metal workshop we found an angled piece of aluminium bracket which seemed perfect. Sometimes it's good to work with materials and let them influence them the design.

Started looking at the wiring to maybe get a better understanding of it. Seems confusing.

This was my first class after transferring into the second year. We learnt about Arduino, which was super fun!  Would love to do more of it in the future.

I learnt how to program LEDs and servos. Programming was great fun and very satisfying, and I will definitely look more into it in the future. 

The Arduino program has a lot of examples that I can learn from in my free time or future projects.
