Ms. Masters if you’re nasty!!! 💥💥💥 Ya gotta love the annual issues Marvel put out in the 1960s... it was an excuse to put out an extra issue every year and make it larger then the monthly offerings... so they could charge more. But that oversized annual needed content... so what could be added besides more comic stories? 💥💥💥 Tommy recently talked about Fantastic Four pin-ups that popped up in these issues... full page pieces of art featuring one character to highlight and draw attention to them. FF annual 1 in 1963 had a few of the team and some villains that were quite popular, so Jack busted out a new set for FF #Annual2 (September of 1964) featuring all four of the main characters solo, as well as a gallery of villains! But the series also included one interesting supporting character... someone who would play quite an important role down the line in the epic series!!! 💥💥💥 Alicia Masters is the love interest of Ben Grimm aka The Thing... a constant source of angst in the storyline because Alicia loves Ben despite his deformities and he can’t believe someone so beautiful could love a monster! The caveat is Alicia is blind... so she only really knows his personality and well meaning good nature, not his physical look. This makes her the ideal for Ben’s girlfriend... but she also catches the fancy of the Silver Surfer later on (much to Ben’s chagrin!) 💥💥💥 This pin-up lets Jack do a detailed version of Alicia to lay the groundwork for her future importance... and Kirby is pretty great at doing stunning women throughout his works.
