it hasn’t been long since thalia’s last seen alina. between the ankle-breaking and the scramble for clues in the guesthouse, she practically sees her just as much as the boys. maybe she feels a little bad about basically sending her to the hospital, but lia doesn’t let the guilt faze her. this is alina winthrop — there’s no redemption arc anywhere in sight. she’d rather stick to her grudge, and stay the hell away from the girl. if only they hadn’t found her right at the heart of the search for adam’s father. 

thalia wants nothing more than to help adam find his father — or, at least, closure. she reassures herself of this over and over in her head as she sets foot onto the winthrop property, carving out a beeline to the guesthouse. she just wants to get in and out of there quickly, so one can only imagine the pain in her chest at the sight of the notorious winthrop girl already inside of the room. she tilts her head up in a half-hearted attempt to hide her annoyance. “what are you doing here?” she moans, even though it’s alina’s house.

the grocery market was always bustling with people before a hurricane. but thalia much preferred the feeling of entering the store the day after, because it was almost like a scavenger hunt. you had to know the right places to look if you wanted to salvage anything from what was left over. it’s not like she had a long grocery list--she just needed to grab some blueberries for her famous post-hurricane muffins. it was really the only food she could make, other than cookies--thalia liked to justify her inability to cook by claiming that she was actually fighting the patriarchy by staying out of the kitchen.

she had weaved between at least three aisles in a herculean effort to reach the produce section without running into someone she knew--this was a get in, get out kind of task. plus, she had already politely explained what her post-grad plans were to at least three of the middle-aged white ladies on her street, and frankly, she was sick of the small talk. thalia was so busy scouring the fridges for blueberries that she nearly turned head-first into someone. not just someone. alina winthrop. the worst case scenario, in this situation. “ what are you doing here? ” she snapped, squinting up at the much taller girl. “ run out of organic kale for your green smoothies, or something? ”

16. what time do they normally go to bed? how many hours of sleep do they usually need to function in the morning?

it really varies! but rarely before 2 am. adam’s a night owl and has specifically designed his work schedule so he doesn’t have to be there to open the wreck because of it. it’s less about how many hours he sleeps and more about what time he has to wake up. he could go to sleep at 9 pm, sleep 10 hours and still not be able to function because it’s only 7 am. he is absolutely NOT a morning person, and if he is awake before 10 he’ll be annoyed. after breakfast and/or coffee he can bounce back, but before that he is grump or basically still asleep. 

18. what is their preferred weather? what would be a perfect weather day?

hot and sunny! he (wrongly) thinks summer is the best season. if he can’t be outside at the beach/on the water all day he doesn’t want it. adam likes clear skies and a temperature no lower than 80. 

but he also does like sitting on the porch during thunderstorms in the summer.

21. what were they a part of in high school/college, if they went? were they a part of any clubs, did they play any sports? what clique would they have been considered a part of?

no clubs, no sports we die like men. adam wasn’t much of a joiner in high school. he didn’t have college applications to boost, had no trouble making friends, and was busy enough with his social life and working that he didn’t fuck with organized activities at school. growing up, he dabbled in soccer and basketball, but they didn’t stick. he’s definitely a natural athlete, in the way that he can pick up any sport pretty quickly. he would be a very good pick when playing pickup, but he’s not like, gifted at anything because he never played anything seriously.... he’d rather surf than anything else so that’s what he did. surfing was his after school activity 😌

for a clique, adam was.. jock adjacent? i suppose? he was like.. nice popular. you know how there are two different kinds of popular kids.. there’s the classic popular where they are scary and beautiful and untouchable, and then there’s the nice popular where they’re approachable and cool and pretty well liked.. adam was nice popular. people knew him and generally had good things to say about him! he and rome were attached at the hip and usually seen with theo and thalia as well, but adam was friends with everyone! he wasn’t concerned with status or who he was hanging out with, if he liked someone, he’d be friends with them and that was that! he existed outside of high school hierarchies and didn’t have any concerns about how people would see him based on who he was friends with. he spent the most time with the gang, but outside of them, it was kind of a toss up! yes this is long and i rambled and it doesn’t make any sense but i don’t care 🤪

come home with me —— does your muse believe in love at first sight? if so, would they ever act on those feelings?

nope! adam has high standards because he thinks highly of himself so he wants a lot out of a partner. he brings a lot to the table and he expects whoever he’s with to bring just as much. they are never going hungry, luv! so! while he he’s very quick to like people, and finds it really easy to see traits to love, it takes a lot more for him to fall in love with them. he needs to learn a lot about people before he falls in love with them and can’t imagine feeling that at first sight. now, that being said, he’s a romantic and can get behind like... immediately feeling a connection to someone. but that’s more of a soulmate thing than a love at first sight thing so, still. 

gone, i’m gone —— does your muse run from their problems or try to confront them?

yes :) 

it kind of depends really.. like he confronts personal things and if it’s something he can take the fall for if it goes wrong he doesn’t mind. because he hasn’t really experienced consequences, he’s ok with messing up when he’s trying to solve problems. but also he is not good at handling problems with other people. he is willing to jump in on behalf of people he loves, to stand up for what he believes in, and to try and be a mediator between people he cares about. however, if it’s between him and someone else he loves.. he becomes allergic to dealing with things. he says problem? what problem there is no problem! <3

chant (reprise) —— is your muse a leader or a follower? do they go on well without instruction or guidance?

he’s a leader <3 he’s genuine and altruistic, and hopefully it comes across that he’s the kind of person you would want to be behind. he’s trustworthy and caring and yes he will get you into shenanigans but he is capable of getting you out of them too! i don’t know if i would say he’s the BEST planner.. but he’s a big picture guy. other people can worry about details, they’re not his problem 😌

hmmm, he gets on well enough without instruction or guidance. for the most part, he has enough confidence to act like he knows exactly what he’s doing and make people fall for it if that’s necessary. *flo milli voice* he love my confidence and that’s what you lack! he can fumble his way through things with a laugh if need be! i will expand upon the without guidance in a later ask, but i don’t think you need to be able to do well without instruction to be a good leader so there!
