Anyone looking for music recommendations needs to listen to Angelology by Alisha Liston it dropped like half an hour ago and I am OBSESSED
Do yall ever have that moment when you're such a mimic that when you try to do something original it sounds like something from someone else and you're afraid that someone else will think you're trying to rip them off but in reality you have no personality of your own and thus must borrow from somewhere and the fact that you borrowed a snippet of personality from them means you consume and enjoy their work but if you tried to explain that to them it might sound like excuses or worse that you're crazy?
Anyway, totally unrelated, I tried to write a song (so far only the lyrics) but it sounded almost exactly like something Alisha Liston would make (I've been obsessed with her music since I found her a few days ago) and now I don't know what to do with myself. I'll figure it out though and hopefully make a song.

Often, we find ourselves striving to present the version of ourselves that gets us the most likes and the most followers.
Our need for social approval can be addicting, and it can drive us toward unhealthy, even deadly behaviors. Whose Definition reminds us about the dangers of getting caught up in the vicious cycle of trying to conform to these unrealistic ideals and no single social or beauty standard. We’re all different, and we are all beautiful. Like a floral bouquet, each one is different and all so beautiful. Alisha writes music about the feelings and experiences she’s had in the hope of helping others (especially teens) grow and persevere through life’s difficulties.
Stylistically, Alisha loves painting pictures with vivid lyrics to enhance the emotional journey for her audience. She connects at an emotional level, bringing them an understanding while offering words of hope and encouragement. Whose Definition is one of six original songs Alisha has written and is releasing in her upcoming EP, Beautiful Illusion. It is scheduled to be released in August 2021.
Alisha wrote Beautiful Illusion to help people (especially young people) persevere through life’s challenges. It is these challenges that are, in a sense, a beautiful illusion. This is because these challenges are what allows us to grow and become stronger.
Beautiful Illusion will contain 6 songs, plus an electro-swing, experimental instrumental track (e.g. the bonus track). The tempos and instruments range from fast-paced dance beats, to acoustic ballads, all encompassed in a vintage dreamlike fantasy theme. Here’s a quick run-down on each song and what they are about:
* Hourglass: Heartache. Healing takes time, and eventually the storm will pass.
* Whose Definition: Social/physical standards. Who defined them anyway??
* Distorted Reality: Emotional extremes.
* Paint on a Cloud: Freeing yourself from others who try to control you
* Yellow Rose: Sometimes we hurt & that’s okay.
* Beautiful Soldier: Hard times are what makes you great
* Static Record (experimental instrumental track): Fun, feel-good song
While Alisha writes music from a teenagers’ point of view, she’s found her music appeals to all age groups.
Coming up...
Right now Alisha is working on her first EP, Beautiful Illusion, due to release in August 2021. Releasing an EP is something that she has wanted to do for some time. In addition, to the EP, Alisha’s has several music videos coming out. The official music video for Hourglass will be released this weekend. She is also working on a music video for Whose Definition and Paint On a Cloud. Alisha is very involved in her music: writing, producing instrumentals, video concepts, artwork, etc. In parallel, we are working on booking both live performances and interviews. Alisha recently booked an interview with Americas Next Pop Icon, and a live interview with Wish 107.5 USA. That interview/performance is scheduled for Friday, July 30 @ 5:00 PM.

Alisha Liston is a 13-year old singer, songwriter, actress and aerialist who was born and raised in Southern California.
Alisha has been singing for as long as she can remember, and music has always been her go-to. During her tween years, Alisha found it challenging to find age-appropriate music she could relate to. This inspired her to start writing music that speaks to young people and the challenges of that age group.
To date, Alisha has co-written and released a half a dozen original songs, and is currently working on her first EP titled, Beautiful Illusion due out in August 2021. She plans to release 3 of these from her EP as singles.

Hourglass is a song about persevering through difficult situations, whether dealing with a broken relationship, losing a loved one, or just making it through finals week. It’s about knowing no matter what you are going through that emotional pain/grief doesn’t last forever. Healing takes time, and eventually the storm will pass.
