Day 5: Green
Here is another short comic starring my most favourite Bladers.
Sometimes, in completely unexpected moments of my day, I suddenly remember that old Ep 39 of Beyblade G Revolution and start a rant on how the English Dub did Yuriy SO dirty and oh boy...
Like, I am cooking pasta and suddenly I think "how could they do this to HIM" and start stirring my spaghetti with anger and disappointment.
I probably watched the Eng Dub for the first time only a few years ago, but when I got to the scene I remembered well how the conversation went in the Italian Dub and the Eng Sub:
And then one day I listen to the Eng Dub out of curiosity and find this
And I am like
And then EMILY REPLIES THIS
AND I AM LIKE
Now, Emily and Emily's English voice actor, my sweet darlings, let me refresh your memory because YOU WERE THERE WITH YOUR TEAM IN MOSCOW TWO YEARS BEFORE
YOU WERE THERE AND YOU WERE ALL SHOCKED
BLADER DJ EVEN STARTED SPEAKING RUSSIAN FOR THE OCCASION
And now instead of replying "MICHAEL WTF" you're agreeing with him that everybody has beaten Yuriy at least once? Yuriy Ivanov from Neoborg? Oh, have you Emily? Or Michael? Or anyone else except for Takao, Daichi, Rick, Garland and perhaps Kai?
Emily's English voice actor, yes you too, have you ever beaten Yuriy in a Beyblade match? I DON'T THINK SO
And you are saying all this while the poor guy - a literal VETERAN in this sport - is at the HOSPITAL FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AFTER TRYING TO SAVE YOUR BUTTS Y'ALL ARE YOU CRAZY THAT'S SO DISRESPECTFUL
Now take a taxi, go to visit him at the hospital, look at him in the face and say WE ARE SORRY YURIY WE DIDN'T REALLY MEAN THAT WE ARE JUST A BUNCH OF IDIOTS AND WE WISH YOU A SPEEDY RECOVERY AND ALL THE BEST AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO BATTLING WITH YOU AGAIN AND LOSING.
Mayblade 2025 - Unpopular character
"I SWEAR TO GOD SPENCER, IF THAT THING JUMPS ON ME-"
The thing in question had eight hairy legs, small round dark eyes, and a personal vendetta against the Blitzkrieg Boys. The most obnoxiously large tarantula in the universe had apparently taken a portal from Hell directly to their room and was now squatting on top of Seaborg’s launcher on the dining table as if demanding a place in the team and ready to win the regionals.
"It’s your fault for leaving the balcony’s doors open," Spencer barked back, sternness painted all over his face, broad back pressed against the wall. "It was just there when I came back from the bathroom."
Bryan had his bag held like a shield in front of him, his knees bent in an athletic stance. "I’m telling you. It looked at me. Direct eye contact."
"Stop yelling. It’s a spider, not a goddamn grenade," Tala snapped irritably. The redhead stood at the far end of the room, arms crossed tightly over his chest, eyes narrowed as someone doing some complex calculation to weigh the pros and cons of setting the whole room on fire. His stoicism would have looked far more impressive if not for the fact that he had strategically positioned himself behind a chair. One he could throw if necessary.
Bryan scowled, glaring at the monster as if he could pulverize it with sheer power of will. "Just throw your shoe at it."
"And provoke it? Are you insane?" Spencer hissed with disbelief.
"Then we abandon the hotel and leave the launcher behind. Sacrifices must be made."
"This is ridiculous. Just trap it under something," the captain growled from his well defended corner, his patience wearing thin by the second.
Apparently fluent in Russian and now offended, the demon flexed its legs with the energy of a creature that knew full well it was on top of the food chain in this room. And that was enough to send a tall, blonde, highly trained man scrambling on top of the counter and the silver-eyed one bolting behind the couch.
This stand-off has lasted over fifteen minutes now and still none of them dared to approach.
"Enough. I'll handle it." Tala sighed deeply and finally moved.
Spencer gasped, horrified. "Don't, Tala. It's... hairy."
The wolf ignored him, curling his fingers like claws beside his hips and squaring his shoulders, marching towards the spider with the gait of a soldier on a mission.
His intimidating figure loomed over the intruder. As two predators stared at each other, the shadows dancing on the wall grew darker and the temperature in the room dropped ten degrees.
The arachnid reared up and raised its front legs menacingly.
“... Nope,” the boy sheathed his arms back into folding and backed away like someone who just realized they walked into the wrong bathroom. “On second thought, it’s your launcher. You take responsibility.”
Bryan let out a bark of scoff from behind the couch. “So much for our fearless leader.”
Three loud bangs echoed from the door. After sparing enough time for all ominous male activities to be halted or clothes to be properly put on, the door opened with enough force to produce a small gust of wind, revealing a very familiar blonde girl with big, round glasses and a scowl in the hallway.
“What’s with all the noise? Some of us are trying to finish lab reports,” she scolded loudly, deeply annoyed.
Bryan peeked from behind the couch to hurl her a death glare. “Who the hell are you, again?”
“Emily. From the All Starz,” she snarled between gritted teeth. “Tone down, or I will call the hotel security!”
“We’re in the middle of a siege,” Spencer explained helpfully, nodding at the hellspawn plotting on the table.
Emily looked at the spider, a small black thing coiled and poised, ready to strike. Then at the mess in the room. Then at the scattered, fully grown, functional, intimidating Russians whose fame, dark story and unfriendly behavior spread dread and fear amongst the Beyblade community and competitors.
A smug smile graced the corner of her lips.
“You,” she said slowly, savoring each word, “are afraid of a spider.”
Bryan jabbed a finger towards her. “That is not a spider. That’s a hellbeast! It has knees!”
She sighed. “You do realize that it’s literally a spider and not a tactical warhead, right?”
Tala huffed sharply, staring at her coldly from the corner of his eyes. “Please. Be our guest. Let’s see you try.”
“Men,” she scoffed and then marched towards the intruder with the full intellectual wrath of someone who had not only dissected insects in high school biology, but enjoyed it.
Then the spider leapt.
Chaos erupted. Spencer nearly fell off the counter trying to backpedal through the wall. Bryan screamed in some ancient language and hurled a pillow. Tala ducked so fast he temporarily lost Wi-Fi signal.
Emily caught the arachnid mid-air with godly reflexes.
Silence.
“It’s a Brachypelma smithi,” she explained as she adjusted her glasses and investigated the spider, turning it around gently. “Common name: Mexican redknee tarantula. They’re docile.”
Bryan stared like he had just witnessed the birth of a new deity. “You’re insane!”
“I’m from the US. It’s not the worst thing I’ve seen crawling out of a hotel room.”
Tala narrowed his eyes, following the girl’s movements like a hawk as she turned and walked towards the door. “Where are you taking it?”
“The garden, obviously. I’m not gonna squash it, it’s endangered.” She looked over her shoulder with a sharp frown. “If I hear yelling again, I’m filing a formal complaint to the BBA.”
And with that, she left, slamming the door again for good measure. A frame fell from the wall and good, old, peaceful silence reigned in her wake.
Spencer sat up slowly, brushing dust off his hat. “...Did she just one-hand a tarantula mid-pounce?”
Bryan climbed back onto the couch, gloved hand on his chest after surviving such a near-death experience. “I think I’m in love.”
The captain waved irritably and turned to retreat to his bedroom. “We don’t talk about this, ever.”
“She touched my launcher,” Seaborg’s wielder grunted.
...
Twelve hours later, a deafening screech shook all the furniture in this very same hotel room.
Tala growled audibly, slamming his laptop shut as if it had betrayed him and then rubbing his temples, giving up any further attempt to focus. “What now?!”
“FLYING COCKROACH!” Bryan yelled from the bathroom.
“That’s it, we are moving hotels.” He turned to Spencer, murder glowing in his eyes. “...Call that girl.”
Emily Watson / PPB All Starz
First time drawing this character, it's not one of my favorites but I think it's needed on the blog.💋
All Starz Headcanons
Michael: Does not comprehend that not all countries speak English, has embarrassed himself using google translate on more than one occasion. Has been reminded countless times to call the Russians by their names and not ‘commies’.
Emily: Fluent in four languages, five if you count coding. Is the sole reason her team makes it to tournaments on time. They would be nothing without her and she knows it. Knows how the team bus managed to make it across continents but will never tell.
Steve: Was not in G Rev because he broke his leg (canon) tripping over Michael’s baseball (not canon, haha), enjoys the look on Michael’s face when he tells everyone Michael’s balls sent him to the hospital. Has a serious pet peeve of other countries saying football when they mean soccer.
Eddie: Favorite movie is Space Jam. Has an autographed poster of Michael Jordan that he’s pretty sure is legit, but it’s also signed by Bugs Bunny so, yeah, take that as you will. Does not consider Beyblade a real sport but hey, he’s getting paid. Helped design the team jackets but let’s Michael take the credit.
What type of girls do Max likes? Cute or bossy type?
Rick: Max likes all the ladies. Every single one of ‘em.
Max: Do you mind not answering my questions for me?
Rick: Did I lie?
Max: No but-
Rick: Told ya, ladies man through n through.
Max: They asked what TYPE. For the record, I like a girl who can do both.
Emily: *cough* Mariam *cough*
Michael: HEEL BOY!
Max: I don’t know why I hang out with you lot. I’m going back to the bladebreakers.
