Neena peered over the kitchen island when Dick called out to her, trying to make eye contact without giving herself away. They came quickly to her and she waited for Dick before she got out from behind the fridge door. The gunfire seemed to cease as they ran from the apartment to the windowless hallway of the abandoned building.
She motioned for Dick to follow as she rushed to an apartment a couple doors down and shoved the door open. It was dark and dusty, but like most places, there was no sign of struggle or hurry. She navigated through the living room and yanked open a linen closet. At the bottom was a duffle bag. She didn’t typically have a plan B, but after inviting Dick and Bucky into her life, she thought better.
