"What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of His glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory" -Romans 9:22-23 (Ripe for destruction refers to the choice of rejecting the truth) God allowed free will among His children. We are free to decide if we believe in Christ Jesus and if we want to follow His calling. Some say "yes" and others say "no". Believers are sometimes discouraged by this process. Why would Jesus allow only some of His children to believe? Why wouldn't He use his omniscient powers to change their mind? Maybe, like the scripture entails, we are not all meant to accept Christ at the same time. He meant for some of us to be stubborn, for some to take longer to believe, and even for some to deny Him forever. Regardless of the choice, He is patient with these people because He knows that they will exemplify the mercy of which He is capable of when the time comes. It will be an extreme act of glory and prove His love much more profoundly than if He just allowed all to believe. I can't help but giggle. The people who deny Him- atheists and those who try to disprove the existence of God - are being used in His grand scheme to prove His love and glory. You know, that Jesus guy is a smart man. He is much more powerful than we could imagine.
