Say No To The High-water and Say Hello to Alloy
Hello Tall Team,
I would like to welcome all of you to All Things Tall, a forum for women who “Stand above the Crowd”. As a woman who stands at 5’11, just shy of 6 feet, I know how incredibly hard and sometimes dreadful it can be to find clothing and shoes that fit myself, and furthermore, tall women. Here’s a little bit of my story…
The summer before I turned 14, I was at a height of 5’9 and by the time I graduated from high school, I was 5’11. I can recall how uncomfortable I would feel going to school dances because if I wore heels even two inches high I was TOWERING over every girl and even boy in the gym. Most of all, I remember being so embarrassed to say that I wore a size 11 shoe at the age of 14. I remember always wanting to fit into clothes my friends who were no taller than 5’6 fit into. It was awful.
But along the way, I decided to embrace being this height. Why be ashamed of wearing a size 11 shoe or that I cannot wear styles that someone whom is petite look better in? I was made this way for a reason.
Creating this forum is incredibly important for many reasons. A lot of stores have started creating “tall shops” but what is offered sometimes isn’t really flattering and or stylish. Just because something is long, doesn’t mean it will fit properly. I also really think it’s important for women to have one centralized location where we can find what we are looking for. In addition, how cool would it be to be able to connect with women across the world that shares similarities such as being tall? Answer, very cool!
I love to shop, like any woman, but it some times can be a bit depressing when nothing is in your size and or fits probably. I’ve done my research over the years and I now know which brands and trends are for us and which we should stay away from.
The first store I want to introduce to you ladies is a store called Alloy, website: www.Alloy.com. Inseams are our worst nightmare as tall women. I mean I seriously cringe when I hear a 30 inseam (unless it’s a skinny jean.) There is nothing more uncomfortable than your jeans not even touching your shoes. No one, and I mean no one wants to high water! Alloy has inseams up to 39 and as a woman who is 5’11; this is seriously without doubt music to my ears. In addition to offering longer inseams, Alloy also has shoes sizes up to size 12, not to mention------ INCREDIBLE SALES. So head over to www.Alloy.com and let me know what you think.
