It was strange, how a festival like this could simultaneously be unlike anything he’d ever experienced and remind him so much of home. Maybe that was because this was really the first signs of livelihood in this sleepy little place, or maybe the simple homeliness of it reminded him of times ling gone by.
But the time for reminiscing and dreaming was short-lived. In the meantime he was curled on a bench in the village’s square indulging as much as he could on his most recent delivery while the enormous bonfire warmed him even from this distance. A swig of wine to wash it all down would have made it perfect, if he had the money to spare to get some. He eyed the crowd, hoping maybe he could get away with slipping a hand into someone’s open purse. When his eyes caught the nervous-looking young man in some religious garb or other, he wondered if it wouldn’t be more convenient to just sneak some wine out of a nearby church instead.
Yeah, that would work nicely.
Finn tailed him closely, with a foolproof plan: any eye contact would be met with innocent, totally inconspicuous whistling. Not suspicious in the slightest.
