flashback || Max & Judith
It wasn’t unusual for Max to go out by herself. Sometimes, the quiet was the loudest thing, and being in a lively environment just felt better some nights. Most of the time, she just spent the night drinking and looking at her phone, though she did find some interesting conversation or even a hook-up every once in a while, though she wasn’t always looking for such things. Plenty of times, Max just wanted to be left alone, which she was usually good at. However, that night in particular was beginning to get a little loud, even for her taste.
She knew her time had been cut short when a slew of college athletes accompanied by plenty of screeching girls came pouring in, completely crashing through the tolerable atmosphere. It didn’t take long to figure out that it wasn’t their first stop of the night, as most of them were already acting like they couldn’t handle the bottles they held in their hand. It was times like that where Max didn’t feel quiet as bad for never attending university. Boarding school was enough of a mess--the last thing she needed was men and legal alcohol thrown into the mix, seeing as how she already let herself get wrapped up in plenty of shit on her own.
As expected, an argument eventually broke out, and that was when Max decided she’d been there long enough. Maybe she’d follow their lead and go somewhere else, but the drinks weren’t good enough to keep her in that seat for any longer. It escalated in the time it took for the brunette to leave cash on the bar, and that’s when what felt like the star quarterback decided to fling a bottle, obviously missing his target, but having no problem hitting Max right in the side of the head. She learned that day that bottles didn’t break against people’s heads like they did in the movies; instead, it made a loud, hard thwack before bouncing to the ground, breaking then. “WHAT THE FUCK,” Max shrieked, stumbling away from her seat as her hand flew to cover the point of contact. “Fucking animals--Jesus bloody Christ I think I’m dead..” The new patrons, however, couldn’t be bothered as the majority just continued to yell at each other, while the rest tried to stifle the situation so they ‘wouldn’t get kicked out.’
