The Mutuals have spoken. Without further ado, here is the oc post I promised.
I would like to start with that from a strict lore perspective, I am unsure how much sense this will make, at least to those very strict on lore, as I made this character for fun and to enjoy the setting and world of Dark Souls- but, those I have shown already said they really liked it so I hope people on Tumblr will as well. A lot of this for saving time is copy pasted from discord with some minor edits. Enjoy (or don't, I can't force you).
The OC in question I made for Dark Souls 2 (and she's still kicking about in 3) is Visenya, an intelligence caster who desires to learn any and all forms of magic. Appearance wise, Visenya has long white hair, often adorned with braids (to be every artists nightmare) and has purple eyes, which are that colour due to events you will read about shortly. I will attach some pictures of her in game from DS2. (Her name and looks are very Targaryen based, because I like the aesthetic, but that’s pretty much where any sort of similarities between them stops.)
Visenya was originally born to Lord Aldia and one his disciples, under the premise that she would be experimented on as part of Aldia's effort to combat the curse- to see if a newborn could yield any sort of results compared to his previous already grown subjects. Her birth was messy- her mother died, and the first few weeks of her life were spent in labs being subject to various treatments and procedures. I guess you could consider her a prototype of sorts that Aldia revisited when he made the Emerald Herald, and I suppose they would be sisters.
When Visenya did not yield the results he'd hoped for, Aldia had planned to discard her, more than likely in the Majula pit with the rest of his failed experiments. Though he was stopped by Vendrick- who upon learning of what his brother had done, had taken pity upon the child and decided he would raise her as his own.
She spent the early years of her life as any child would, unaware of her earliest days, and grew up as the King’s ward, often referring to him as “father”, as he was the only father she knew. That did come with a lot of privileges, as one would expect when raised by a King, but it also came with it’s own issues- attention, pressure etc. At a young age, Visenya showed herself to be very intelligent- perhaps as a result of her being experimented on, or simply as she was (technically) Aldia's daughter and it was inherited. Either way, she had a lot of brains, but lacked a lot of brawn as a downside- so she isn't the greatest with physical or melee combat. Rather than try and force the girl to learn the ways of the sword, Vendrick allows her to study magic, under the very reluctant agreement of his brother, who only allowed a disciple of his to teach her as he was curious on the child's mind himself. Visenya enjoys her studies, but they did come with more issues.
In a Kingdom built on strength, under a King who viewed that above all else, her being a sorcerer was certainly viewed in a very.. strange light by the people. She was determined to prove she could be just as useful with her mind rather than with a sword, and has tried to improve herself on the strength front to little avail. It’s her casting that makes her shine, and I like to think with her intelligence she was quite a shrewd tactician or councilor back in the "golden days" of the kingdom you might say. (Just.. don’t let her get hit in battle, she will go down easy unless guarded, because mages are not known for their tankiness. She can hit hard, but also get it very hard in return.)
Moving on, growing up around Vendrick also meant spending a lot of time around his court, his knights and soldiers- whom she admired greatly, as they were the defenders, and in her eyes the heroes, of Drangleic. The ones I would say she was closest to were of course the King’s arms, Velstadt and Raime- and Raime is the one I ship her with.
(Wow, Alta, who would have thought? That's such an unexpected plot twist and we really could never have guessed! I'm a shameless simp, ok? God’s mistake was giving me free will and I want to use it to make super indulgent content for myself. Plus all the angst considering what happens in the lore is too good to pass up, and I like to make my characters suffer (affectionately). If there's one thing I've learnt this past week or so, it's to unlearn shame. Thank you FSCG.)
There's not much more that I can think to add currently, but my ask box is open if anyone has any questions and such- I would love to answer them! If you read this far down then thanks, and I hope you liked my little piece on Visenya and would like to hear some more, perhaps I will do more posts in the future if people like them :)
