Organic cotton... what’s it made of?
Organic cotton is a production process of cotton that aims to have as little impact on the environment as possible. The process includes the usage reduction of pesticides and harmful fertilisers, maintaining the agriculture and soil which it is grown and the rejection of using genetically modified seeds.
A better alternative to modified, mass produced cotton that utilises synthetic chemicals in its production process. These chemicals are carcinogenic and can have health implications.
It is better for the environment. As the process does not use synthetic pesticides, The soil can be replenished. This makes the ground more fertile and keeps it clean.
It’s vegan. No animal ingredients are used in the making process of organic cotton, however, not all ink used on organic cotton textiles is vegan. So, make sure you follow up one what inks are and are not. For more information on vegan inks, check out the previous blog post Vegan inks... what’s it made of?
