Do u think Harley Quinn has become more iconic then Wonder Woman? Harley sales in merchandise and comics are super high.
Her comic yes but in terms of merch, not close. Harley’s merch has sky rocketed but its still tied to more niche stores. I’ve been in stores who don’t sell geek merch that have WW stuff. A few years ago DC (or it was WB) made a point about the importance of WW merch sales overall. Basically putting it like four or five behind Batman, Superman, GL and maybe Justice League. But she was a big winner for DC there. Since both ladies are coming out in film next year and the Superhero Girls project, their merch will probably closer but I think WW will always have the lead in part to her long standing. Plus...
While Harley is definitely on her way to being iconic (hell, I think she’s an icon now), she’ll never be as iconic as WW because WW is one of the only female characters whose creation was not spun from a male character or male franchise. That fact will always keep her head and shoulders above. Harley while having outgrown Joker or Batman to some degree, is still a Gotham character. Still part of that mythos.
The comic thing we’ll have to look back at after the current team leaves to see how it holds up.
