“alright, i’ll leave you alone.”
It took everything in Betty not to dig her nails into the palms of her hands, to not tell herself she deserved the pain from it for not letting her own boyfriend in. He had finally been so honest with her, so open and candid, and Betty still found herself struggling with it. After talking to her mom about it all, and finding that she had wished she kept more from her dad when they first met, Betty made a vow to herself not to be like that. She didn’t want to keep things from someone who did care about her, even if it could all backfire on her in the future. They wouldn’t start the same kind of messed up cycle, and build their relationship on secret keeping.
She drew in a shaky breath.
“Jughead,” she called, her voice as firm as she could make it, a hang reaching out to grab his hand and keep him from walking away. Slowly, maybe even a little timidly, her fingers laced between his, then finding herself being pulled closer into his chest. Betty’s eyes closed as her forehead rest against Jughead’s chest, swallowing the lump in her throat as she spoke in a trembling voice, a salty wetness building in the corners of her eyes, falling down her cheeks as she blinked.
“I don’t want you to leave me alone.”
